Same goes for labour laws, worker benefits, environmental laws, etc.. It means that even after a more liberal government from a country that has signed into this deal, is voted in after the deal was signed by the previous government, and enacts new industry regulations or worker health benefits, or carbon emission standards, can and will get sued for "loss of profits". And this agreement means they are guaranteed to win. After multiple times they are sued, payed for by the taxpayer, the end result is they will have to reluctantly and eventually rescind all of those new laws or go broke.
This is what is going on on a smaller scale in the NAFTA right now. It will slowly but surely transform all countries down to third world standards for labour and environmental conditions.
