Im afraid Obama is going to end up a failure on the drug war

Im afraid he is all talk from now till the election.

NOW is the time to do something, anything. Time is running out. I dont like that he just put in a pro-drug war AG.

God forbid we get a GOP president. Thats going to set back the movement 30 years. Especially if there hasnt been any change in federal policy. President republican asshole will shut down legal weed in the states or wage a huge war trying. The reefer madness crowd is going to get all the funding and federal support of pot research ends.

If obama hasnt done anything before he leaves im afraid in 20 years when we are still throwing people in cages for pot we will see him on TV saying 'I really regret not doing more to end the drug war when i had the chance'

The fucking clock is ticking and all we are getting so far is words.

not impressed.

His administration (eventually) got out of the way in medical marijuana and legal marijuana states. He is mostly letting the great social experiment continue.

Just this week, he expressed support for a bill that get the feds out of state medical marijuana laws.

His administration has pushed hard for--and won--serious, dramatic drug sentencing reforms that have seen thousands get out of prisons, with thousand more to come.

Attorney General Holder has made serious moves to rein in asset forfeiture abuse, both by feds and by state and local cops using the federal "equitable sharing" program.

We couldn't have expected much more from any president.

The president can't legalize weed. Congress can. I'd give it until about 2024.

campaign for it.

there are lots of things he can still do now for the next 6 months or so before the elections start heating up.

he talks a great game and he hasnt bullied the states out of legalizing and helped with some banking reforms i give him that. more then bush would have.

but a new GOP president can revers it all on day one. we need more substance. something more concrete.

rescheduling would be the biggest thing he could do and he does have the power he just has to use it
