The Obama campaign is highlighting an awkward moment from Mitt Romneys Ohio town hall today in which he took a question from a woman who said the president should be tried for treason, without condemning the line. They also accused Ohio state auditor Adam Yost, who introduced Romney, of attacking the Obama family by accusing the president of fly(ing) to New York just to have a date night with your spouse.
Today we saw Mitt Romneys version of leadership: standing by silently as his chief surrogate attacked the Presidents family at the event and another supporter alleged that the President should be tried for treason, Obama spokeswoman Lis Smith said in a statement. Time after time in this campaign, Mitt Romney has had the opportunity to show that he has the fortitude to stand up to hateful and over-the-line rhetoric and time after time, he has failed to do so. If this is the leadership he has shown on the campaign trail, what can the American people expect of him as commander-in-chief?
Romney said after the event that of course he disagreed with the questioner who brought up treason charges.

(45,274 posts)He's conscienceless, which is a good trait for success in the vulture capitalist world.
People without conscience do or say whatever they consider needful in order to attain their goals. You can see that all the time in Romney. Every time he follows a flip with a flop, it's an effort to secure some advantage.
Here he saw nothing wrong with someone trashing Obama (he hopes EVERYONE feels that way), but when he was called on it, he caught on that the treason remark was inappropriate, so--and only in response to a question that framed the remark as unacceptable--did he disclaim it. Classic psychopathy.

I think they are going to do everything they can to hit back, hit back hard and in a timely manner. I also think they are going to play the game the republicans have laid out for years and beat them at it.
For years we have asked why do Democrats sit back and take it when the republicans allow shit to happen or create the shit. I think Obama's campaign team feels the same way and they are not going to take it.

When things like this happen ... call him a COWARD. It is what is is.
When he talks about economics, the phrase is CORPORATE SHILL. Say it, repeat it, over and over.

(86 posts)Why is President Obama being held to a higher standard than any previous president? It as if some think he is indeed (to use Rushs term) a Magic Negro. All of these so-called special interest groups feigning disillusionment because 100% of what they want hasnt been done. Notwithstanding the fact the he is being met on all fronts with opposition from republicans and blue dogs, in addition to an orchestrated republican mass media machine.
Republican talking points being co-opted by so-called democratic players, He had democratic control of the house and the senate. Why didnt he get more done?Etc.
I think that democrats have more than their fair share of low information voters who are not fully comprehending what will happen if Romney and the republicans are placed back in power.

(7,403 posts)I think that is a fair question given his track record of remaining silent on matters that should have been red flag items. Also, today he was stumped about a question on tax credits received for taxes paid on foreign investments. While nobody would expect him to know the exact amounts I would expect him to be aware of those transactions. He seemed surprised that he actually paid any foreign taxes. As poorly as he handled the question it just adds to the question of whether he can think on his feet. Oh, and it displays Romney as again out of touch. Romney just keeps appearing like he is not ready for prime time despite Ann Romney's claim that it is "our turn".

Talk about going against the Constitution, ummmmmmmmm, I can name many in the Bushie admin. as well as Bush himself. These RW are nuts. They blame others for what they are doing.
