Ulrich Schermetzler lost an ox in a queer manner the other day.
He had tied his oxen to a fence, while he went down to the river bank,
a fishing. Returning to his team, after a short space of time, he found
one of the oxen had become entangled in the rope in some way as to hang
himself. The general verdict is that he died of strangulation.
It may have been suicide.

(21,946 posts)5. Not a slow news day, that was really news cause the oxen weren't cheap or easy to
replace. The writer as they did in many cases back then, put a humorous twist on a bad event.
