Open Letter to Jenner Haters:

https://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2015/04/27/stfu-jenner-haters/

Fuck-all at the link today. Just a pro-LGBT rant.

Just a short post this morning to lug a brick upside the heads of those sneering at Bruce Jenner and his announcement of his Trans journey to womanhood. Apparently, some people think it’s a PR stunt, a money-making scam, or a bizarre way to weasel out of a traffic ticket. Really, America? No, seriously, really?

People really think that someone would trade the coveted legal and socioeconomic status of a wealthy white male for the discrimination suffered by those in the LGBT community?

People really think Jenner is throwing his primary marketing asset (a masculine Olympian image) away, after having made millions from it over the past 39 years?

People really think it’s a stunt to subject one’s self to the hormones, surgeries and manifold other tortures that it takes to physically transform from one gender to another?

C’mon. Wake the f***ing f*** up. This writer knows a few Trans individuals, and can tell you they have a tough row to hoe. Everything from A to Z changes and it is a lifetime struggle. Nobody does it lightly. It is done because the person involved sees no other choice if they are to live a fulfilling life.

Really, this writer is flummoxed only by Jenner’s continued adherence to the conservative “Republican” part of his identity. But that’s humans for you: complex beasties, we are. Good on Jenner, and may his many critics either shut the f*** up, wake the f*** up, or both.

Journey with zero negativity if Diane had left out the 20 seconds of politics. Once some found out Bruce was Republican some felt Bruce was not worthy of respect and dignity. I think it was unnecessary to ask those questions and took away the good that was going on for the subject matter. Hopefully most of Americans took the positives from the 2-hours because there was a lot of it.

It's shown where some people's concern really lies. People who can't bring themselves to support a Republican trans* person solely because of their political affiliation have problems.

A majority of Republicans support gay marriage because a family member or friend came out as gay. It all has to start somewhere and I am glad that Bruce is a Republican because it will open some Republicans eyes. If he was a Democratic supporter the impact would not be as big because liberals already support the entire community. Sadly most on our side can't see the positive.

I don't understand how any transgender/gay person could be a Republican but I do wish him well in his quest to be who he truly is. That interview took real guts to do and casting aside his political beliefs I have to give him props.

I would not be surprised to see some political evolution in the future, as Jenner gets hit by the Teapublicans and their discriminatory policies.

Me personally, I am not sure what to think except he is part of the Kardasioan clan. I think that bunch would do anything for money or fame (more like I really just don't care sort of an idle opinion).

Incidentaly, my business partner who is gay, he thinks Jenner is taking advantage of his transitioning status to make a buck.

I doubt highly it is for publicity. We are supposed to be accepting of all but I don't think as a group we are. If he said he was a Democratic supporter the many replies all over the Internet would be all positive. As soon as he said GOP, the nastiness started. Doesn't make sense at all.

It's scary how many people care.

is 40 years old & made him money quite a while ago. He's essentially an Olympic "has-been" who is now much more widely known as a part of the media reality circus.

While I get people want to stick up for a transgender person, I don't get sticking up for someone who has been profiting primarily from being a part of a media circus for the better part of a decade.

There a number of transitioning people out there speaking up. Holding up someone whose now known as being a participant in a circus as a role model?

Frankly, I think more people will simply see Jenner as reinforcing the image of transitioning people as oddities due to his recent participation in and profiting from the media circus.

I'd refer to Jazz JennINGS, if someone wants to listen to a transgender individual who doesn't carry such ludicrous, attention-seeking baggage as Bruce Jenner.
