1) Is what we're seeing in the media accurate? Overblown? Underreported?
2) What is happening where you are?
3) Have you/your family/your co-workers been impacted?

(14,040 posts)I have FB acquaintances that live much closer to Bmore but they're pretty racist and say it's "horrible" and sirens all over and helicopters. I'm seeing a lot of the same type of stuff without the racial element here on DU.
I suspect we'll see more going on this evening.

(5,790 posts)They have a job to do, and the gangs threatening the police and injuring seven of them is not what any of us want to see. That said, reading comments like "Do these animals put their hands up and say 'don't shoot' before or after they loot the liquor store" isn't pleasant. They seem thrilled that the Governor is sending in the National Guard. We'll see if it calms down the violence.

(14,040 posts)Ironically, one of the things I noticed when looking through the protest images from Saturday, is I didn't see any misspellings but the racist comments on FB are chock full of them.

(14,040 posts)I've got photography acquaintances from the Baltimore area, that's why we're FB "friends" and of course, they have like-minded friends, so I see a lot of trash on my wall when stuff like this pops off.

(14,040 posts)for, I guess, 10 years now. I spend a lot of time in Bmore, so I'm invested in what's going on there.

(2,758 posts)I've lived in this area over 40 years. I came here right out of school, right after it was destroyed by the riots of the 60's. It's my adopted home. After all these years, it has finally started coming back. It has taken a generation. People are moving back into the city, not out. Now this. This is heartbreaking to watch.
