I have FB acquaintances that live much closer to Bmore but they're pretty racist and say it's "horrible" and sirens all over and helicopters. I'm seeing a lot of the same type of stuff without the racial element here on DU.

I suspect we'll see more going on this evening.

They have a job to do, and the gangs threatening the police and injuring seven of them is not what any of us want to see. That said, reading comments like "Do these animals put their hands up and say 'don't shoot' before or after they loot the liquor store" isn't pleasant. They seem thrilled that the Governor is sending in the National Guard. We'll see if it calms down the violence.

Ironically, one of the things I noticed when looking through the protest images from Saturday, is I didn't see any misspellings but the racist comments on FB are chock full of them.

If I knew you better, I'd compare notes on age and demographics; it's always possible we're reading the same posts.

I've got photography acquaintances from the Baltimore area, that's why we're FB "friends" and of course, they have like-minded friends, so I see a lot of trash on my wall when stuff like this pops off.

Largely (by no means entirely) white school. Most of my classmates represent Hogan's core constituency.

for, I guess, 10 years now. I spend a lot of time in Bmore, so I'm invested in what's going on there.

He owns a small business and while he's ok, he's worried for some of the guys who work for him. He's trying to be sure everyone is safe and accounted for now.

I've lived in this area over 40 years. I came here right out of school, right after it was destroyed by the riots of the 60's. It's my adopted home. After all these years, it has finally started coming back. It has taken a generation. People are moving back into the city, not out. Now this. This is heartbreaking to watch.
