Hi "Frenchie"
Wonder if you could do us a favor and explain how socialism works in France. Here's a post of mine that will explain what we should know about Europe and its governments, and maybe you could help us, or, me....

Thanks in advance, and I like you being here.

(10,044 posts)I hate private messages. I don't know why, but it sort of suggests something private and hidden from the rest of DU, and that sure isn't my attention. I want her reply to be long and informative and everyone read it.
But thank you...

(90,865 posts)...that she is far more interested in critiquing Hillary Clinton than anything else. I have asked about her native country, but haven't gotten more than one or two lines. Hopefully you will fare better.

(2,992 posts)first on equitable repartition of benefits between all of people. And everyoke takes part with taxes on the maintain of social welfare, such as the universal health care and the RSA, a minimal social income that goes to pzople who dont work since so long the dont have anymore jobless indemnities.
This repartition is highly criticized by Rw sonce they believe people should go back to work, no matter are the sacrifices, and wants basically repeal workers protection (lowering paychecks, etc)
To get short socialism here means protecting the rights and well being of everyone.
Thank you OP for asking.

(10,044 posts)And utilities and water - does the government handle these?
Do you have a stock market?
Are you satisfied with socialism or do you wish you were in a capitalist country like the U. S.
Glad to see you. Got up very late because of the killing in Texas and spent too much time on the computer O_
I read mostly all your posts and have never found anything that I could disagree with. On the contrary. You seem to know enough about us to chip in with your thoughts, and I welcome them.
My request to you came about because some are saying the Bernie doesn't have a chance because he is a Socialist, and in some peoples' minds, that is akin to communism..

(2,992 posts)Between socialism in welfare. And capitalism. A lot of our former nationalized firms are now completly private. We have no more France Télécom, it was bought by Orange.
But some people actually wish more renationalizations.
And yes we have a Stock Exchange

(37,457 posts)by the way, I don't mind at all if you post in Francais. Google Translate gets the gist. I think the vast majority of DU would not mind also.
