Texas banned sex education in schools, now there’s a massive chlamydia outbreak

http://deadstate.org/texas-banned-sex-education-in-schools-now-theres-a-massive-chlamydia-outbreak/

According to some reports, if you are a student at Crane High School in Texas, there’s about a one in fifteen chance that you have chlamydia. There’s also a good chance that you’ve never taken a sex education course. Coincidence?

Officials from the Crane Independent School District have sent a letter to parents informing that at least 20 cases out of the 300 students at the high school had been reported.

From The Raw Story:

According to the Crane Independent School District Student Handbook for 2014-2015, the district “does not offer a curriculum in human sexuality.” In 2012, the district’s School Health Advisory Committee had recommended Scott & White’s “Worth the Wait” Abstinence Plus curriculum if a sexual education policy was adopted.

In fact, Texas state law requires any sex-ed course to devote more attention to abstinence than any other behavior. And students must be taught that abstinence until marriage is the best way to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

We have abstinence-only sex ed here in Michigan too and it's disturbing how little my daughter has learned there. And not everyone has parents who will give htem the info they need.

Don't they realize that abstinence comes AFTER marriage, not before.

Between work, changing diapers, PTA meetings, soccer practice, yard work, doing the taxes, ... who has the time or energy for sex?
