General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsLiberal radio (and internet TV): the phenomenon the Mainstream Media pretty much ignores.
The Mainstream pundits seem shocked at the sudden rise of Bernie Sanders. They shouldn't be. And in particular, Rachel Maddow shouldn't be. She used to be a regular on Air America.
Those 175,000 instant Bernie volunteers? Not so instant.
Many of them may be fans of "Brunch with Bernie," a standard part of the Thom Hartmann show nearly every Friday morning.

So, I raise my glass (of milk in my case) to Thom Hartmann, to Democracy Now, to Pacifica Radio and to all the unsung heroes of the progressive/liberal airwaves.

And for the news from 5-7, LA time:

And to the listeners and supporters of Pacifica and liberal radio.
Thom Hartmann and liberal radio and all of us regular listeners may not be as loud and crazy and obnoxious and offensive as the Rush Limbaugh crowd, but we are here and we are a force to be reckoned with.
By the way, I listened to Bernie on Thom Hartmann's show yesterday, and he was answering questions from callers. Just so you know. Never was there a politician so capable of answering questions on the spot. And if he doesn't know the answer to a question, he says he doesn't know or he is thinking about it or he will answer it later. How refreshing. A politician who is honest. And a talk show that isn't hate, hate, hate all the time. It's unbelievably inspiring.
Again, here's to liberal radio.
MSM, if you had been listening to America, you would have known that Bernie has a huge following. That's hewujjjjjjj for those of you who missed it.

(62,416 posts)they are on DISH, Direct tv and many major cable outlets. Free Speech is now the home of Steph Miller, Thom Hartmann, David Packman and Bill Press.
And a shout out to WCPT in Chicago and KTNF in the Twin Cities - a couple of great independent stations!

(3,160 posts)I used to call into her show and Al Franken. I stopped listening when they started hiring those "Alan Colmes" types. I think there was a guy named Lionel. I heard him, turned off the station, and knew the company was being sabotaged.

(70,700 posts)Lib audiences are younger, more educated, have a much larger "media universe" (music, whatever) to spread their listening to.
While wingnut audiences are older, totally more *NARROW* in what they will listen to. Haha: shrunken minds, shrunken media universe, shrunken *everything*.

(39,909 posts)When we moved to a rural area that had no liberal radio, we subscribed to XM
in order to catch Thom Hartmann & Bernie.
We are so far out there that there isn't even a conservative radio with Rush/Hannity, and the other sociopaths. All we can get is Jeasus Radio and vanilla clear channel light rock.
