It isn't about us, it is about them.

And yes, I feel good when I hear girls are learning to read, to defy gravity, to laugh and enjoy life. I can't change the future they face. But to label their struggle or our reaction to it as "feel good fluff" seems overly
harsh.

People can change. The children are the only hope. They deserve better.

... but the momentum in that country that pushes them towards corruption and squalor is quite literally unstoppable.

The children do deserve better... but they aren't going to get it. They are going to live in filth, violence and poverty and so will their children.

in a country that could care less about anyone without money or power, a country as corrupt as they come. Full of violent, brutish, militaristic religious fanatics. Are you giving up on the USA too?
I refuse to give up all hope for a better world.
