Bernie's gotta watch out

If he garners the nomination (not to mention if he wins the general election) the right-wing will be all over him. Hillary will be but a footnote.

Don't get me wrong - I want Bernie to make it. I lived in Burlington, VT while he was mayor. Bernie's great. He's also unorthodox, though, and maybe we need a heavy dose of that right now, but if you think the RW was all over Obama because they called him a socialist, imagine where they'll be when Bernie, an avowed Socialist, is on the radar.

Go for it, Bernie, and I'm behind you. I've already donated. I think you'll have a tough time if elected, but knowing you, that's not going to stand in your way. If anything, Bernie has been totally consistent over the last 30+ years about what he stands for, and he doesn't compromise that.

after the 2020 census and subsequent congressional redistricting, the only power Right Wingers will have might amount to control of state legislatures in a handful of states.

We have already witnessed our last Republican President (W) and in about 6 years we will have witnessed the last time the Republicans controlled either house or congress.

Bernie knows this and is not the least worried about the Teapublicans. I'm volunteering for Bernie and I hope everyone on DU will give serious consideration to doing the same.

See you at the Sander's Inauguration

Bernie is gonna get people to pay attention.

The only thing we need to fear is apathy and ignorance. I think most people have no idea who Bernie Sanders is. I thought it was interesting when talking with a friend that he had the same level of feeling as we do about our candidate as he did wanting Adlai Stevenson to win. He knows Bernie. My 92 year old dad knows who he is. But the young tech on the phone this morning had never heard of him.

The word can get out quickly with or without the system that's in place. Youtubes can get millions of hits overnight. I'm hoping for Viral Bernie. If those who don't see the connection between who our representatives are and the quality of life, finally do see the truth, as Sanders tells it, there could be crossover voters.

But many of the people a country that doesn't demand impeachment of the administration that did so much damage, must not be engaged. It's that engagement which will give Bernie the votes. And despite getting less tv time, or money. A vote is all it takes.

Of the various ways of creating engagement, I feel that Bernie is his own best force. I'm just fearful of those who lack the ability to see his vision of a higher quality society, and world. That to me is an important part of this campaign. Getting to those who either don't vote, or wouldn't ordinarily vote for someone who makes sense, and doesn't lie.

Why is anyone afraid of Bernie Sanders being called a socialist? The fact that the right has called Obama a socialist, and Hillary a socialist, and Bill a socialist, and every other Democrat a socialist is going to work in Bernie's favor.

What are they going to do? Backtrack and say "Sorry, we were only joking when we called these other Democrats a socialist. This time we mean it. Bernie is the real super scary evil socialist we're always talking about!"?

The hard right are going to go "Boo another socialist!". All the other undecideds are going to go "sure right wing, we've heard this scare story before a bunch of times".

The only way they differentiate his real democratic socialism from all the fake socialism they're always crying about is to bring up the details of why he's a socialist. The moment they do that they lose and he wins. Because when most people here the details of what he believes in they agree with him.

So I say let them attack him as a socialist. He's going to throw it right back in their face. After all they've cried wolf too many times for it to scare anyone anymore (except the fox viewers, but they're a lost cause anyways). The more they attack him, the more people hear his point of view, the more people believe in him.

I like what you say.

When they do start in on the "He's a socialist" because he wants health care and a clean environment for everyone, he wins.

When they say "Bernie is a socialist" because he wants an economy that is sustainable and taxes fair, and children fed and housed, he wins over the mass of people to his side.

Finally, we have a candidate who is a real, honest, unashamed socialist.

This is gonna be fun.

Seriously. All the representativees will be up for re-election and half (?) the Senate. If Bernie wins, it means the majority of the voters are fed up with the status quo. Why wouldn't that have a trickle down effect?

He's not part of the script, so the old brushes won't paint on him. He's so fluent in truth-telling that it would be challenging to even try to misquote him!

The best they can hope for is to call him a Socialist Buffoon and pray nobody asks him what that means
