Atlanta Cops Kill Woman, Say She Fired on them While Handcuffed in Back of Patrol Car

Atlanta, GA — A 25-year-old Atlanta woman died from gunshot wounds Thursday after police say she fired at them from inside the back of their patrol car.

Two officers were investigating reports of a stolen car Thursday afternoon when they found Alexia Christian sitting in the missing vehicle. She was then arrested without incident and placed into the back of the police cruiser.

The chaotic scene then unfolded in the middle of the street as witnesses watched Atlanta police officers fire into one of their own patrol cars.

No officers were injured, but Christian was struck with several bullets. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where she later died.

"In September 2006, she escaped handcuffs while in custody for auto theft. The Atlanta Police officer left the patrol car to talk to a witness. Somehow, Christian escaped her handcuffs, crawled through the Plexiglas separation, and started driving away."

Was it magic the previous time?

And she must have some long toes -- how else does one pull the trigger with one's hands behind one's back? Did she use her tongue?

I think maybe they need to have cameras in the back of squad cars, too...activated any time an ass hits the seat! Like Taxicab Confessions, only for suspects!

precinct, apparently there is a tape of the incident, and a lot more.

I don't think this is another Ferguson, Baltimore, on and on. But who knows what will turn up.

I had an idea to hold on to it but quickly came to the realization fleeing from police even in the event of taking the cuffs off would likely result in success but it wasn't like I was often situations where I would need one -- especially for a teen.

They are not allowed to do a thorough search without calling a female officer to the scene.

As officers asked Christian her name, she fired three shots

I'm no expert on etiquette but I'd guess that's at least as big a social gaffe as wearing white before Memorial Day

And what about those policemen's manners? We all know she over-reacted to a stranger asking her name, but wouldn't it have been nicer if the officers had at least apologized for offending her? Instead, The officers returned 10 rounds. How did that help? It sounds like they became too focussed on themselves to think about her feelings. I'm pretty sure their mothers didn't raise them up to act like that
