I was told he wasn't afraid of speaking his mind and challenging authority. Instead, all we have is an unnamed "advisor" (not even a campaign staffer) for an unnamed campaign. Is it possible that Bernie is fully aware and supportive of the arrangements?

Secondly, how do you know he's not registering objections? Thirdly, if he's not, perhaps it's because he prefers to choose his battles.
Finally, I doubt he's fully supportive of such a limiting arrangement.

"While a six sanctioned debate schedule is consistent with the precedent set by the DNC during the 2004 and 2008 cycles, this year the DNC will further manage the process by implementing an exclusivity requirement," the statement announcing the debates explained. "Any candidate or debate sponsor wishing to participate in DNC debates, must agree to participate exclusively in the DNC-sanctioned process. Any violation would result in forfeiture of the ability to participate in the remainder of the debate process."

Having just six Democratic debates is a far cry from 2008 when there were over 20. However, the majority of the debates in that election were hosted by other organizations. The Republican National Committee is hosting more than six 2016 debates. It will sanction at least nine debates and may add up to three more. The RNC also has an exclusivity requirement for debate participants.

(25,261 posts)What are the dates of these 6 debates?
One way one could deal with this is to appear at all 6 DNC sanctioned debates then after they're completed - participate in any debate that may come.
There would be no forfeiture in the remainder of the debate process - because the 6 DNC sanctioned debates would be completed.
The only way that would not work is if they run the 6 debates right up to the DNC convention and don't allow time for additional debates to occur.

{Edit} So outside of some major changes there will be 6 debates before the first caucus. They had 11 debates before the Iowa caucus in 2008 and 9 debates after the caucuses and primaries started in 2008. The Iowa caucus was on Jan 3rd in 2008.

(13,340 posts)a series of two-minute mini-speeches that never actually answer the damn question isn't really a "debate."
Modern political debates are pretty damned useless, IMO. Especially when there are more than two candidates on stage.
