Bryan Fischer wants ‘smart and articulate’ gay conservative editor fired for being ‘dangerous to the cause’

Responding to news that a popular editor at the conservative Townhall website came out as gay earlier this week, Christian commentator Bryan Fischer called for the firing of the young man saying that he was “smart and articulate” and therefore “dangerous to the conservative cause.”

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Townhall Political Editor Guy Benson addressed his sexuality after writing in his upcoming book: “Guy here. So, I’m gay.”

Benson explained that, despite being gay, he feels he falls in line with most conservatives when it comes to LGBT issues. “I’m for civil marriage, I’m for nondiscrimination laws — but I think there should be broad carve-outs for religious organizations, in particular, and narrow carve-outs for closely held businesses that serve the wedding industry,” Benson explained.

This wasn’t good enough for Fischer who wrote on his American Family Association blog, “Benson is young, smart, and articulate and often appears on Fox News as a pundit on all manner of political issues. This makes him particularly dangerous to the conservative cause.”
