Reality is Calling. Repubs are Denying the Facts. This can’t end well.

https://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2015/05/11/reality-is-calling-repubs-are-denying-the-facts-this-cant-end-well/

Source info at the link.

Really, Teapublicans hate Reality. “Republicans” pretend that basic math like 2+2 is negotiable. They say things are in the Bible that aren’t, and ignore things that ARE in the Bible. The GOPee would have you believe that scientific facts are debatable.

This “denial-based” approach to reality has lots of consequences. By denying biology and human sexuality, the Teavangelical “abstinence only” approach has caused STD epidemics and lots of unintended underaged pregnancies. By denying history, Trickle-Down economics has beggared the many and fattened the few. By denying science, whole nations are being wiped out by climate change, and more damage is occurring on a daily basis.

By denying the Constitution, a partisan “republican” Supreme Court illegally installed Gee Dubya Bush in the White House. By denying the facts, that illegitimate “president” allowed 9/11 to happen. By denying MORE facts, that same individual launched an illegal war that killed thousands of people and squandered billions of dollars. And so on. And on. AND on.

Those who vote for Teapubbies are even further divorced from reality (except for the .1 % crooks): because even though their jobs and money are gone, their women abused, their fields parched and their homes foreclosed upon, millions of Americans continue voting for Repubs. Because they deny the reality that their lives have been drowned in GOP Elephant s***.

Reality cannot be denied forever. Sooner or later, the facts will have their triumph. And all the denial one cares to create and perpetuate will accomplish naught in the end: nothing, that is, but even greater destruction, death, and human misery.

Reality is calling. Pick up the damned phone, America.

It makes me wonder if the American voter is really that stupid or if Fox News is even more effective than we thought. The reelections of Brownback, Walker, and Scott are very VERY scary.
How do you even reason with stupid and suicidal against a well oiled propaganda machine?

vote out of fear & anger - Fox News, Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, Savage, etc - are there to keep the "base" fearful and/or angry. I don't think they're necessarily stupid, but it's hard to think when you're living in a constant state of fear and/or anger.

Obama (Clinton) is going to take your guns
Obama (Clinton) is going to set up abortion mills on every street corner
Obama (Clinton) is surrendering to ISIS/Al Qaeda/Putin/North Korea

Many years back, Bill Clinton correctly said something like, "When people take time to think, they vote Democratic." I think much of the right wing echo chamber is to keep their base in that constant state of fear and/or anger so they don't take time to think rationally.

millions of them, to get them to vote? We know X are always going to vote con and Y are always going to vote dem, so what about that massive amount that dont vote?

What has to happen?

Sister die from back alley abortion after Roe overturned?

Brother die from lack of medicaid from cancer?

Friend robs a bank and goes to prison for 20 years because he was out of options to survive?

Parent is forced to choose between prescriptions and heat?

I dont know.

Where their beliefs don't match what they see in the world.

They live within a homogenized hermetically sealed information bubble. They are victims of their own belief system.

That really goes for most of us also.

While I think I have a reasonably broad list of source material I read, I could easily find myself going to resources that are supportive of my POV rather than those that argue against me and my "beliefs".

What if there really is an Abrahamic (male) God that smites all non-believers? What if that god listens mainly to Pentacostals or ISIS-tending stoopids?

What if Obama has really mobilized the National Guard and the Secret Service <grin> to invade Texas and make everybody stock up on Doritos and coke?

What if there really is a secret society of 0.01%'ers that are trying to take over the world?
(Oh, wait.)

We have our share of bought off Dempartiers in our party that have sold out to Big Money! They try to convince us that things like the TPP, Fracking, and Wall Street banks are in our best interests. Watch how many won't support the bills Bernie is filing! There are a lot of DINO's out there.

Many Dems had to go for the money or else there would be no Dems at all in the House and Senate. That's the hand they were dealt and the reality of how money must be there or forget about running. As a woman, I'll take a Dem any day. I know enlightened men who say the same thing. So change the system! Don't attack those who had no choice, but to work within it.

and they are right wing Republicans. Everyone else has given up and bought the "they're all they same" crap.

With all the voting fuckery going on, I am honestly in fear of a Republican majority government getting elected in 2016, and it will be the last nail in our coffin. Good bye Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, education. unemployment insurance. It's time for a full throttle, free market, trickle down mess.

Ok, enough. I made a promise to be less cynical.
