I'm actually fairly ambivalent to the TPP, but I know it is vehemently opposed by many here, so I'm pulling a link to this very short diary from DailyKos with the title I presented on this OP:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/05/11/1384108/-Rename-the-T-P-P-Obamatrade
It was posted somewhat tongue in cheek, but the diarist has something here.
If you rebrand the TPP as "Obamatrade", it will crash down to defeat easily. The Democrats mostly oppose it and if the teabaggers started screaming about "Obamatrade", there would never be enough votes to pass TPA or the TPP.
Just a thought for an actual path to defeating the agreement for those opposed.

This "Obamatrade" idea is a solution I'd expect to come from a child.

(45,358 posts)Not the actual TPP agreement, which doesn't yet exist.

(4,244 posts)how would you feel if the agreement did exist and the Republicans were still in favor of it? Would you defer more to the blind squirrel line of thought?
tridim
(45,358 posts)Why? Because fuck the Republicans, I'm not doing their dirty work for them.

(31,849 posts)But I must note for accuracy: DUer Pampago has been posting polling data indicating that the Democratic base supports both the TPP and Fast Track ... while our Democratic REPRESENTATIVES (you how ... the folks that DU takes great pleasure in lambasting as out of touch with the Democratic base and as having sold out to corporate interests) vehemently oppose them.

I'm not sure who the author of the Dkos post is but they did not do much research before posting it.
In congress, Yes, but not among folks in the respective bases.
"If you liked Obamacare, you'll love Obamatrade:
this secretive pact will send millions of American jobs overseas
and surrender American sovereignty to the rulings of Unelected Judges."
It's too late to start calling it that: http://obamatrade.com/ And it is definitely already tailored to conservatives.
I doubt very seriously that Sanders would start using a term invented by the tea party faction of the republican party. Pandering to the right in that manner is not his style.

(5,217 posts)logic have never met each other. So when it comes to teabaggers logic is irrelevant. The strategy is all about their primal hatred for the President.
Excellent idea.

(15,429 posts)Now, it's the Republicans that want TPP. If we get their teabagger base pissed off about it, they'll be too scared of losing their jobs going into an election year.
