He was on MSNBC this morning and he kept talking about how we needed "boots on the ground" and not just the "82nd Airborne". I suppose he meant we need more troops than just the special forces that go in and assassinate or capture our enemies? I shuddered to think that there was someone in the US Senate that would support another invasion of Iraq. But that seems to be what John McCain is suggesting? I wish someone in the media could get him to clarify that?
But what else could they mean when they say that we need "boots on the ground"??

It means the same thing as "ground troops" so why not just say that?
