Just heard this on Jose Diaz-Balart's show. The charges against Ray Rice have been dropped.
I looked a 3 different links, and do not understand the explanation. Any legal eagles here who can explain this? One of the sources spoke of him dragging his then-fiancee's "seemingly unconcious" body out of the elevator. "Seemingly unconscious"? SEEMINGLY???!!!
My apologies if this is not the appropriate forum. I don't start many discussions.

(135,425 posts)It "seemed" pretty obvious to me that he knocked her out cold.
I don't know what the details were as to how/why, though--perhaps because a wife cannot be compelled to testify against her husband? Maybe he entered diversion? I just don't know.
Ah ha--I googled--it was diversion, as I suspected:

Domestic violence charges were dropped against former Ravens running back Ray Rice on Thursday, per ABC News Radio.
Rice hit his then fiance in an Atlantic City casino elevator, knocking her unconscious. Surveillance video was released showing him dragging her unconscious body off the elevator. Later in 2014, the video of him striking her was released, leading to his release by the Ravens.
Charges were dropped after Rice completed a pretrial intervention.

He probably had to get counseling as a function of his sentence, and do a probationary period as well.

(23,987 posts)It seems unlikely to me that someone would haul off and hit another human being so forcefully if you were not already accustomed to some level of physical violence.
This may be legal, but it "ain't right," IMO.
