I keep my devices charged up before I leave the house and always take my ipad mini. Just in case I need to pull over and film a cop beating somebody. It seems to me that, many people have th same idea in their heads, and stay ready to film just in case.
Nothing would have been done if not for the video, I swear.

You seem like a really strong woman. I'm proud of you for having the courage of your convictions. You live in a world that's inherently more dangerous than mine, based solely on the color of your skin. I know I'm afraid of cops. You seem fearless.

It seems that the charges are going forward despite the naysayers. I think they altered some charges, but the result is the same. I predict convictions for all of those officers. Maybe not on all charges, but they will see the insides of jail cells and get to ride in jail vans or buses.

In regards to Lt. Brian Rice. Sorry if it's obvious and I'm just not seeing it.

Is that the fact they had no grounds to detain Gray to begin with re: knife?

Heartening to see this entire inhuman gang being held to account. And that's exactly what they are - a gang, who had no problem clanning together to make other people's lives more miserable with intimidation, physical harm, and ultimately murder.

All three of the bike cops had no good reason for pursuing or arresting Freddie Gray.

Rice, 41, an officer since 1997, was one of the officers on bike patrol during the initial encounter with Gray. He made eye contact with Gray, who then ran. Rice and others failed to establish probable cause for Gray's illegal arrest. Later, Rice and two other officers handcuffed Gray and put shackles on his ankles. The officers placed Gray back on the floor of the wagon, face down.

in the racist history of the USA. Still.'

You are so right, countryjake.

I'm reading a book now called Black Against Empire, about the Black Panthers in the 1960's and 1970's. It mentions hundreds of cases of police killing unarmed black people in city after city all across the country during just that time period.

It's truly mind blowing how much this has gone on throughout our history.

I highly recommend the book to anyone who is interested in that time period. It was the winner of the 2014 American Book Award. Really riveting reading.

Thu May 21, 2015, 07:53 PM

Freddie Gray is walking down the street. An officer catches his eye and I think stares him down. Gray walks or runs away. No probable cause for detaining him. They find a knife on him. The knife is legal for Gray to be carrying. No crime. At that point, police were obligated to release him, telling him he's free to go. Yes, that's the basis of why the arrest was illegal.

I'm especially heartened that in this one case, for once, the prosecutor's office is not acting in concert with the gang of police. This must take place everywhere. Hundreds and thousands of cases like this one throughout the United States just in the past few years. It must end. Today is a good start.

Six police officers have been indicted in the death of Freddie Gray, Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby said Thursday.

The officers are scheduled to be arraigned July 2, she said.

Gray's death last month after allegedly suffering a devastating injury while in police custody sparked protests and riots in Baltimore.

Earlier this month, Mosby said that charges had been filed against six officers in Gray's death, an unexpected announcement that brought cheers from protesters and words of protest from the police union.
