The network issued the following statement on Friday: "Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time."<<

(38,958 posts)I find TLC and so many other channels that once were about quality programing and learning to be more than disappointing these days. Thank goodness for the internet.

(24,411 posts)And now that they don't have to play to the cameras anymore, I hope all of their sick secrets come out. Maybe now the real victims of this sick, dysfunctional family can finally get some help.
Josh's predatory behavior is a red flag for him being a victim of sex abuse. If Jim Bob, the father is a predator, I hope to God that he is exposed.
Kids who commit incest are repeating what was done to them. They pick younger victims--which echoes the abuse dynamics that happened to them. Josh picked much younger girls to victimize. Very telling.

(14,061 posts)I've never seen the show but out of curiosity I looked it up on On Demand. I could not get past the opening credits. Truly cringe-worthy stuff.
Networks like TLC have become the media equivalent of the freak show at the carnival.

(18,470 posts)Where I live is just outside the service area of the local cable company. So we never had cable TV growing up. We had four to five channels (depending on conditions) at first and eventually got up to about 10 channels after my uncle installed a better TV antenna for us. But even then what we could get was fast becoming a freak show by the late 90s.
When DirecTV became somewhat reasonable I picked up one of those and installed it. (That was back in the days when you could buy the kit and install it yourself). And it was like a godsend having satellite service. We finally had some decent channels. That was back in the days when History Channel showed well, you know, history. Now even these channels are fast becoming a freak show.

(20,582 posts)It's one of the reasons I got my satellite dish, I loved that channel. Then it changed to junk reality shows, there's not much learning at all to be done watching it anymore ... well, listening, because I only have my tv on as background when I'm doing books. But still ....

(23,741 posts)Josh Duggar: '19 Kids and Counting' Pulled in Wake of Allegations
"The hit reality show had been on the air since 2008 and featured the Duggar family, their 19 kids and even their kids' young families. But after Josh Duggar addressed the In Touch story by saying he "would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions," the show was yanked by the network today.
This does not mean the show has been cancelled yet."
