Battling breast cancer for 13 years, her time is drawing near. I have never met this woman in person; I have only known her through an online Breast Cancer Support group.
She was diagnosed at the age of 29. In all these years, there has never been even a whisper of "Why me?". Something that I cannot say for myself...yet I am still here.
She has celebrated every milestone...kindergarten for her son, another Christmas, getting to see another snowfall.
Relished every moment...a trip to Starbucks for her favorite drink, signing another report card for her only child.
I have never known a person so grateful for life, for every single day of her last 13 years.
Please...however you might believe; think good thoughts for her.

(43,890 posts)I want to die young at the end of the day On the High Sea, with face to the sky, When agony is but a dream far away And the flight of my soul is a bird soaring by.
Let there be no sad tears as I draw my last breath, at one and alone with the sky and the sea, No sobbing, nor prayer, nor laments of death; I only would hear the deep waves cover me.
To die when the bright glow of twilight is fading, And catches the waves in its last net of light; To be like that sun as its luminous shading Expires and is lost in the arms of the night.
To die, and die young: before time has destroyed The delicate fabric illusion has spun; When life can still say:"I am yours," but the void Of a final echo tells us death has won!

To have such gratitude in the face of death is a remarkable thing.
I wish her an easy transition to whatever lies beyond this life...
And for you, a for being such a good friend, for even online friends can be pivotal.

(45,251 posts)It's amazing, but we can get as attached to people via fonts as we can IRL. Maybe more so, since all fonts are equal. None is better looking than the other, or older or better dressed. It's just heart to heart, spirit to spirit.

(40,656 posts)are happening for reasons. I don't know what it is for your friend but know that her story is in my heart now. I send her all the love I possess with gratitude that I can even in a small way be part of our courage. Take care too. You both are loved. She has set a standard of love and dignity that is inspirational to us all.

(12,629 posts)Kelly passed away early this morning.
It is becoming evident by the posts being made on her Facebook page that she touched so many with her strength and courage. She was always there to help others going through cancer. In fact, one of her final posts indicated who she wanted her portable oxygen to go to, since she would not be needing it anymore.
Her very last message to us was a simple one: "Love peace and blessings".
She will truly be missed.
