A Brief Reminder of Why Julian Castro is THE VP of Choice for Any Nominee

Since he defended you know who, we can expect Julian Castro to be attacked by some people who do not like you know who. However, Julian Castro is going to be president of this country one day. He comes from a fiercely Democratic-Union family. He and his brother are rising stars among the fastest growing demographic in this country---one that will become increasingly important to the Democratic Party in years to come. He comes from the South, which is always a plus for Democratic politicians seeking national office. He will sweep Texas and Florida once he is at the top of the ticket, effectively shutting out any GOPer. And, he gives a good speech, which never hurts.

I like Hillary Clinton. I love Julian Castro. If the Republicans get control of the DOJ in 2016, their number one priority will be launching a malicious prosecution of him and his brother just to thwart their presidential hopes. Don't let it happen. The country needs Castro.

If Sanders wins the nomination, Sanders needs to select Castro. If Clinton wins, Clinton needs to select Castro. Under Castro, a future America will have eight years of prosperity and fairness. Now is the time to invest in the future.

fairly conservative, very cautious and calculating about everything they (you have to think of Julian and Joaquin as one unit, sort of like the egg they were split from) do as it pertains to its possible effects on their political future. Very orthodox Democrats, in other words.

Much like Obama, who they are represents the change... not so much what they will do.

I realize that some may read that as multi-level criticisms. Let me put it this way: if you like Hillary Clinton, you'll love Julian Castro. I first wrote about this inevitability 18 months ago, and still don't see anything --even Bernie Sanders -- as slowing them down much.

Make of it what you will. What I make of it is that the GOP won't have a sniff at the White House before 2032... unforeseen circumstances excluded, of course.

And is no fool. And they are huge assets to the party, even if still a bit inexperienced. As far as what they might actually do I think your Obama comparison is entirely reasonable.

The biggest thing they bring to the table is that they have followed the difficult road many American Hispanics have had to endure and their stories resonate far deeper than the Rubios and George P Bushes that the Republican party will be serving up to the public in the coming years.

Rubio and Bush may speak excellent Spanish (I don't believe the Castros do) and the Rs will shamelessly exploit this, thinking a tan and second language will be all they need to siphon off enough Hispanic voters to keep races winnable. The Castros are the perfect counterweight to this, their story and where they come from is real and connects instantly with millions regardless of how good their Spanish is. Compare P to the Castros and it's obvious who was born with a silver spoon in their mouths and who had to come up from nothing.

If Rubio were to win the Republican nomination I think Julian immediately goes to the top of the VP candidate short-list.

Fox and the Republican propagandists (any difference?) will certainly go after the Castros if they surface on the radar; look for their mother to be a primary target.

is the actual progressive. Julian and Joaquin are more than fairly centrist. And yes, Fox has been taking shots at her for a few years already.

One's earned the spot and the other's earned the spot how? I don't remember voting, but then that hasn't meant much to certain people in a long time.

They are floating his name for Clinton's VP and she hasn't even announced her platform. What does that tell you about the campaign? Think they want to campaign on issues?

He's done nothing that remotely makes him ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.
