This is amazing, considering Apple and IBM's history as rivals.

Each machine will come preloaded with all necessary software, such as VPN and security tools, the company said. The memo remarked that IBM already has about 15,000 active Macs deployed through its bring-your-own-device program, but aims to deploy 50,000 MacBooks by the end of 2015.
That number will allegedly make IBM the world's biggest Mac-supporting company. IBM adds that it plans to share lessons learned from the deployment with Apple, which is helping with the task.
The new policy was first pointed out by several IBM workers on Twitter.

(38,326 posts)... but I don't work for IBM.
Someday maybe I'll find a beat-up and repairable MacBook and build a computer I like. But for now my laptop is a beat-up old Dell, some of it held together with hot glue and duct tape, the hard drive replaced with a flash drive, maybe thirty dollars cash and recycled trash.
The "Desktop" I'm posting this from is a similar machine.
Linux and other Open Source software and mildly hacked hardware makes that possible.
I feel much too restricted by Apple, Microsoft, or Android operating systems.
