WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) Bernie Sanders has got Hillary Clinton insiders concerned.
Politico writes it is Vermont Sen. Sanders, not former Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley, who Democratic strategists and Clinton insiders expect will pose a bigger threat to the former secretary of state as she seeks her partys presidential nomination. Insiders familiar with the Clinton campaigns thinking described it as frightened of Sanders, Politico wrote not that he would win the nomination, but that he could damage her with the activist base by challenging her on core progressive positions in debates and make her look like a centrist or corporatist. Sanders has declared his candidacy; OMalley is expected to later this week.

I apologize for my earlier snark, it was not necessary.
In the end, Romney didn't have and spend more money than Obama, so that talking point is not accurate.

... (e.g. suggesting Bernie is civil rights deficient and wrote porn 40+ years ago) ... the primary season should be interesting. She did the same thing with then Candidate Obama with an initial assault via surrogates on his teenage drug use, birth place, religion, etc., and we all know how nicely that strategy worked out for her.

The primary season will certainly show us who's really progressive and who's faux progressive when it's convenient and has no qualms whatsoever screwing the populace when it's not. It should be fun to watch Sanders make them squirm.

The antidote to fear is planning and strategy, and Hillary's campaign is staffed with some of the best political strategists. I'm sure they have already been anticipating attacks from both the left and the right. She is in it for the long haul.
It is not Bernie Sanders who is attacking Hillary. In fact, Sanders and Clinton agree with one another 90 percent of the time. It's a vocal group of self-righteous keyboard jockeys who are hell bent on distortion and obfuscating the truth about both of these fine candidates.

core progressive positions like..
supporting 99% of the population over 1%?
being skeptical on secret trade deals written by the corporate class?
not being a reactionary war hawk and taking millions in contributions from the MIC?
Hey....here's a suggestion Hillary. Maybe instead of cowering in the corner, staying mute and hoping for some faux pas from Bernie that the corporate press can overblow (like Dean's scream) or even start your own rumour mill against him, maybe rethink your positions and who your pals are before all of that.
On the other hand, I'm sure her handlers see the silver lining. The glass could be half full. Bernie will make her look like an old establishment Republican comparatively in the debates. So she'll most likely win over more center/right independent voters. Its a game, if she can win more of those conservative small r republicans than she loses with "hard core progressives", I'm sure she will welcome him to the race.
Bernie can counter this by attracting more new younger voters, much like Obama did for his first term win. And also energize and rally the forgotten liberal population tired of the excesses of Wall Street and war.

(154 posts)I have yet to hear from HRC supporters online or in public explaining to me why she didn't win the nomination in 08 ,yet this time its different?
why did voters choose B.O over HRC in the primaries ? my personal reasoning on voting for B.O. was simple, The Iraq Invasion
So yes polls show HRC lead over her competition, but the HRC camp should fear Sen. Sanders because God knows the they don't want a repeat of 08

(9,753 posts)The Republican field is full of loons, no-hopers, and Rand Paul, who is sui generis in American politics (but not necessarily in a good way).
The (growing) Democratic field is full of serious people with thoughtful approaches to the country's challenges.
I welcome the debate, and I think it will make for a better candidate, whoever it ends up being.
I'm also OK with the Clinton camp being a little uneasy, because being on your toes is a definite plus in political campaigns.

(27,818 posts)Hillary is not afraid of Bernie.
Bernie is not afraid of Hillary.
And no (D) candidate who winds up running will be afraid of either one of them, or of any other (D) candidate.
This kind of crapola is written and promoted by people who have absolutely nothing of consequence to say. Therefore, their only recourse is to gin-up nothing and pretend it's something.
"Insiders familiar with the Clinton campaigns thinking ..." That kind of "reportage" is right up there with "some people are saying".
And then there's the caption under Bernie's photo: "Striking fear in the Clinton camps heart: Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont."
Reminds me of all the over-the-top bullshit headlines that pop up on FaceBook et al: "Learn why plastic surgeons HATE this Iowa housewife!" "Find out why grocery store chains are TERRIFIED of this Wisconsin farmer!" "Read about how the frozen food industry is PETRIFIED by this Maine fisherman!"
The only people who are afraid of anyone on the (D) side are the Clown Car Clan - and everyone knows it, and everyone knows why.
If you are a Bernie supporter, an HRC supporter - or plan to support another (D) who enters the race, SUPPORT your candidate by pointing out their positions on the important issues, by volunteering for their campaigns, by donating whatever funds you can afford.
Buying into the propaganda being spewed by so-called "journalists" serves only one purpose - to lend relevance to people who have none.
