Woman Who Wears Size Zero Gets Liposuction for ‘Pudgy Stomach’

Again, not The Onion!

https://gma.yahoo.com/woman-wears-size-zero-gets-liposuction-pudgy-stomach-140053245--abc-news-fashion-and-beauty.html

Megan O’Brien is thin, petite and works out regularly -- but the 38-year-old Los Angeles woman says she has always had one problem area: her belly.

"When I would get my nails done or go to pick up my dry cleaning, they would all congratulate me on my baby, which is fine, but I am not pregnant," O'Brien, a size zero, told ABC News....

O’Brien even gave her tummy a name: Gus. When strict diet and exercise failed, O’Brien sought liposuction.

"I'm a size zero and I got liposuction," O'Brien said. "When I said to people, 'I am going to have liposuction,' they would look at me and say, 'Oh, so you can be a 00? What are you talking about? Why are you going to have liposuction?'"

The only thing I wonder is if she said people think she's pregnant. Why do they question her on lipo? A bit confusing.

The story also said she was petite, which makes a size 0 quite different than it would be for a 5'10" supermodel.

Her body, her choice. If it really bothered her and she had the cash, why the hell not?

Basically a naturally thin person with little muscle and a little paunch. The scale says nothing about body composition. Per the scale, I am severely obese. Per the tape measure, I am in the top 5% of fit men for my age.

... this was called size 8

in 1989 it was a 6
in 1999 a 4
in 2009 a 2

They downgrade the numbers every decade.

There is definite "vanity sizing" at the more expensive stores. I can always wear at least one size smaller if I am willing to pay more money!

I was a junior's size 7.

In 2002 when I was 40, I was a size 2 women's.

Ridiculous!!

I've got jeans ranging across 6 different women's sizes. All of them fit despite the huge size differential.

Sizing is madness lately.

Until relatively recently, she might have been a size 10...with a bit of a belly.. Not at all unusual for a 38 yr old woman..

Teenagers & 20-somethings and some genetically predisposed "beanpoles" of any age have the flat stomach that Madison Avenue has told us we have to have or we are "less thans".

Probably MOST 38 yr old woman are not wearing super tight, belly-exposing garments, so we don't know about their bellies. By the time a woman reaches almost 40, they have come up with clothing choices (of many different sizes) that do not accentuate thier problem areas.

Clothing manufacturers of women's clothing have always played tricks on us. Designer clothing used to be cut more generously so the "rich ladies" could brag about how they wore a smaller size.

This woman needs a reality check..she needs to order some "vintage" clothing from the 40's/50's...the ones with non-stretch fabric and real waistbands that have no "give"..

I am not saying that changing the way clothes were cut or even sized is necessarily a bad thing. The 60's looser...straight lines (with no waist) and the flowing granny gowns were a heavenly change for most of us ..and no more girdles ..

Sadly, society has dictated that women should be small..petite..dainty, and yet most of us after our teens are not, and can never again be that.. Ready-to-wear tells us our "worth" on little cloth tags sewn into the things they sell us

If every woman out there would measure herself, the younger ones would be stunned to discover that a 26" waist 34 inch bust 36 inch hip measurement was once a size 12..which these days, is sometimes considered a "plus" size

That sounds little weird when a zero figure lady does the liposuction surgery. I have done my liposuction surgery from Dr. Hugh McLean’s clinic in Toronto. I have done this surgery just to get rid of my saggy tummy.
