Blackwater trained ISIL militant Colonel Khalimov - Why?

Being over 50, I have lived through interesting realities of American history like Reagan / Bush selling arms to Iran (thereby supporting both sides of the Iran/Iraq conflict) and diverting the proceeds to support the "contras" war against the democratically elected Sandinista government in Nicaragua. Or the revelations of the Church commission, of the news media being stocked with CIA agents for the purpose of shaping public opinion. Or the proud admission by Kissinger (on edit: Brzezinski) that he helped organize al Qaeda for the purpose of weakening the Soviet Union (his finest or proudest hour, I can't remember which he called it). Or the ugly connections between the "School of the Americans" training of Latin American paramilitaries in torture and fear tactics to the eventual implementation of those techniques on nuns and community organizers and political activists on the left in the subsequent years. Or.. Well, you get the idea.

So when I hear our government confirm that Blackwater gave extensive special forces training to a man that is now an ISIL commander, General Khalimov, I think "That's interesting. Wonder what the real story is?"

Did Khalimov wake up one day and, of his own volition, decide to defect to the other side of the "fight against terror"? Or is the story more complicated? I wouldn't lay money on any one theory, because they all seems somewhat plausible...

..OMON, Khalimov’s SWAT-style special forces unit in Tajikistan, received millions of dollars annually from “Defense Department counterterrorism and counterdrug programs” for training and equipment, including “bullet-proof vests, special helmets, masks, binoculars,” and weapons. The U.S. ambassador to Tajikistan in 2013 proudly boasted “that Tajik OMON officers took training in the United States last year and showed high professionalism.”

The loyalties are only to tribe or religious sect, not to a nation founded by imperial powers from the past or UN decree, with arbritrary drawn borders. And at best, the U.S. can only RENT their alliance, at great cost, and only for as long as it suits their purposes. As soon as the situation changes, and it changes often, then their loyalties quickly shift to whatever other offer is most favorable to them.

"an officer of the primary counterterrorism unit which responds to terrorist threats in Tajikistan,... so he and other members of his unit were recommended for the program by the Tajik government."

he also received training from the Russians.

he originally got into the counterterrorism training here in the US via the bush admin.

It seems he's a very effective infiltrator.

Does he do it for money? For ideology? Because he can?

I'd rather not try to get "into" his mind. Just...ewwwwww.

The above quote is from my post in another thread about this. The link to my post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6761122

Blackwater won't do a damn thing unless someone pays them. Trace the root of this to some government entity (State, DOD, CIA, etc).

There's a reason why Blavkwater folded and Prince moved operations to Dubai.

the next month:
because we have to back the throat-cutting ultra-Salafists against secular dictators RIGHT FUCKING NOW NO TIME TO THINK JUST GO IN

so the training was because they're short-sighted, and the eternal and self-aware persistence of that shortsightedness is because both sides are profitable
