Theres nothing but good news in a new Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll conducted May 25-29 of likely Democratic caucus-goers.
Starting off with asking likely Democratic caucus-goers to rate their feelings from very favorable, mostly favorable, mostly unfavorable, or very unfavorable about prominent Democrats, President Obama topped the list of 89% favorable to 9% unfavorable.
But obviously he is not running for office again, so lets dig into what the future looks like right now. Heres how 2016 looks: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rated 86% favorable to just 12% unfavorable and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) 47% favorable to 12% unfavorable.
Who do you want for President? Contrary to what the media keeps reporting, theres a clear front-runner and very popular candidate in Hillary Clinton, with 57% of Democrats choosing her as their first choice, with a strong 16% choosing new-comer to the race Bernie Sanders. This means that all of the scandals and faux controversies/conspiracies about the Democratic front-runner have had no impact on the Democratic base in this poll in fact, Clinton is up one point from January.

(31,849 posts)If Bernie picked up ALL the non-HRC picks, and HRC held steady, HRC wins ... and the fact that (also from the poll) HRC is still picking up numbers, it looks good for Team HRC.

(99,711 posts)That suggests to me the senator needs to change a lot of Hillary supporters minds to make a good showing.

That Bernie bubble is going to break before the general.

(55,981 posts)Sad that some are rooting for the billionaires.
Sen Sanders may not be able to overcome the billion plus dollars expected to be invested by the billionaires or the snubbing of the oligarch-media, but it's a little early to gloat. He will have given the Populist Movement a tremendous boast to fight the dominance of Goldman-Sachs and the Wall Street Gang.
Vote for the People's candidate, Sen Sanders.

Did I just read that? PoliticusUSA is actually telling me that the media is NOT calling her the front runner?

(8,352 posts)What I find interesting is that no one seems to have read the dates. Between May 25-29 was last Monday through Friday. This is BEFORE Sanders campaigned there to great success over the weekend.
I will be more interested in seeing what the polling looks like THIS week, June 1-5, AFTER his stellar weekend in Iowa, where this occurred:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/01/us/politics/challenging-hillary-clinton-bernie-sanders-gains-momentum-in-iowa.html
And as I was writing this I notice that this is already occurring.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/polltracker/bernie-sanders-first-choice-iowa-democrats
Sanders has already gained 10 points in 'first choice' and another 10 points in favorability. Clinton remains unchanged.
This is great news for the Sanders campaign and bad news for the Clinton compared to just last week's poll numbers.
But hey, pesky facts and all.

(43,869 posts)Your reply is based on a theory, truthiness. No facts there. How many points does your gut tell you Sanders has swung polling since last week?

Sanders has already gained 10 points in 'first choice' and another 10 points in favorability. Clinton remains unchanged.
That's quoting the same poll.
"The Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register poll released Monday found that 16 percent of Iowa Democratic caucus-attendees say Sanders would be their first choice, up from 5 percent in January. By contrast, 57 percent of Iowa Democratic Iowa caucus-attendees said former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D) would be their first choice and just 2 percent picked former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D). The finding for Clinton is virtually unchanged from January"
So after all the faux scandals that did't sway Democrats at all in their opinion of Clinton, you're celebrating? You and yours have a lot of minds to change.

Enjoy your smug while it lasts.
And if you don't want to be treated as an asshole, it might behoove you to stop throwing around Fox terms like truthiness and such at fellow liberals and progressives.
I already know that I won't be voting for Clinton no matter what. But had I been undecided and willing to just hold my fucking nose, the shit I have seen this week alone from Clinton supporters tells me all the fuck I need to know about Clinton.
No thank you to both!

(8,352 posts)Fact - this is last week's poll.
Fact - Sanders had a stellar weekend in Iowa.
Fact - Iowa Dem Party contacted Clinton campaign to let them know.
Fact - He is up 10 points across the board as of Monday.
Fact - Clinton's numbers are unchanged.
Speculation - It will be interesting to see what this same poll from last Monday through Friday says at the end of this week.
Not a big TV watcher - sorry don't know my insulting memes.
Still cut out the insulting bullshit.

(43,869 posts)What 'insulting bullshit?' That I pointed out you expressed a theory based on a poll that hasn't been taken yet and called a it a fact which prompted me to call it'truthiness?'
It's the very definition of truthiness.

I didn't ignore anything you wrote. I plainly pointed out you presented your theory as a fact.

(99,711 posts)I eschew the insults and hold all our candidates in high regard but the last two graphs are very revealing:
That suggests Hillary is the first and second choice of 72% of likely IA Democratic caucus voters. Bernie will have to convince many HRC supporters to abandon her to make a good showing. That seems challenging to me.
