(15,472 posts)Why would so many people think they had a shot? Are they assuming the person the DUNC means to shove down everybody's throat will be easily accused of indecision, esoteric communication, a duty to payback supporters ?
Or do they assume Democrats don't have the courage to go in to realm of real solutions that would entail shaking up TPTB, and finally combating the True terrorist, Unchecked Greed and those who enable it .

(47,953 posts)And the repubs know it. So they 'announce', raise money from dupes, then spend most of that money on themselves (travel, hiring family members for campaigns, etc.). Then even after they drop out they can continue spending whats left until the general election, at a minimum.
Plus it is an audition for RW TV and Radio slots.

(2,741 posts)the presidential nomination of the GodOffalParty:
Get in the race to keep up your 1% lifestyle...
Spend time with the "real" Americans, i.e.. Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, etc...
Be able to rant on the public stage about your own insane ideas...
Get at least one billionaire to sponsor you...
Without the last requirement, all others are null and void and you will be handed your ass very shortly...
Thanks for the toon...

(9,996 posts)I take exception to the VW "bug" as a clown car, as they were such a functional, rugged, and reliable car. I would propose something A) 'American" - perhaps even built by American Motors(once run by Mitt Rommney's dad, George) B) A well known failure or boondoggle
C) Goofy.
I think that it narrows down to "The Wide Small Car" - the AMC Pacer.
