About 3 WBC showed up for the Biden funeral

Police stuck them about 4 blocks north of the Church which means no one from the funeral will see them nor will Onama's motorcade (he'll come from the south). WBC had one corner and the rest of us had the other 3 corners and it was folks from all political spectrum there. Eventually a group stood in front with giant pink signs and well the police didn't care as long as it was non violent.

I just heard that WBC just left

I shall compose a list should one have need of it.

bigots, assholes, zealots, Christofascists, religiously-motivated terrorists, heretics, homophobes, wankers...

Alternately, there's my favorite slurs which usually made up of combining a re-purposed innocuous object with a profanity to engender an entirely-new concept:

fuckstick, fuckpuppet, shit-armoire, shitmask, pissfilter, ass-toothbrush, purse-ass and when I'm feeling particularly frisky there always:

big purple plastic cock polisher.

Suggesting that one polishes dildos however or uses their rectum to store loose change...fair game.

The brits (tommies, tories) are notorious for using crude expressions to throw at one another, especially in one of their favorite pastimes - drinking at the pub.

I know Irish, Latinos, Poles, Norwegians (even) all have their in-group epithets. I've heard of people with a bit of an origin in Africa can get away with names that no WASP should use, PC (of course most WASPs are walking around with DNA from all of the rest of the world.)

Personally, I think that we should be sensitive but not over-sensitive. If someone lets slip a demeaning term that offends sheep or other beasts, the punishment should not be banishment. Quite frankly, my dear, it is almost impossible to have any conversation without someone crying fowl (stet).

It is...CRUDE, certainly, but not always mean (over there, mind you). I've heard it used in pub culture as a rowdy greeting and term of endearment --usually between male friends. They aren't insulting one another or fighting. Are they engaging in privileged - style banter? Probably, but that's a separate point.

That said, I would NOT recommend that anyone use the word in that fashion here. It just is one of those terms that have not crossed the pond. Americans almost uniformly use the word as an insult, not a cheeky nickname to indicate fond familiarity. And, even in UK where the word can have more nuance, when directed at, or used in reference to, a woman, one is on very shaky ground without a lot of context. One is better off just saying NO to using the term.

The word "bloody" was viewed as VERY vulgar several decades ago over there, but in USA the censors allowed it on USA tv. They saw it as inoffensive and a good substitute for worse words, while the UK saw Americans cluelessly using a really NASTY expression. Word meanings are not always the same from country to country. We are two nations separated by a common language.

I started over at the Union Park Honda which had the largest group of protesters. Then I crossed over to the Sunoco station which had about 30 more counter protesters (plus I was thirsty and needed water). I felt bad that the Cadillac dealership got stuck with WBC.

I should have got one with the rainbow flag that came soon after.

And someone did throw a cup of coffee at them and the police arrested the guy. WBC tried to get the people in front moved but you think the police were going to move supporters of Delaware's favorite family over the out-of-towner douchebags?

Thanks for taking it, LynneSin - and for posting it!

WBC tries very hard to provoke people to the point of assaulting them so they can sue. Too bad about the guy throwing coffee at them and getting arrested, but I might have done the same thing. At least the police didn't move Biden supporters for the creeps.

About what works and what doesn't.

The WBC protest shows you exactly what it's like for someone looking at extremist behavior from outside the bubble.

I have tons more respect for leftists who actually get out there and try to persuade people than the standard screamers who drive people not only away from their own positions, but from the Democratic party as a whole.

With friends like those, who needs enemies?
