Silent thread for all the horses who die forgotten on the track

or get sent to the slaughterhouse after their race days are over.

And the thousands who will be bred, abused, suffer, and die because of all the "excitement" over the Triple Crown win today.

For me, it took my daughter's high school thesis about the horrors or factory farming. After reading her brilliant report my husband and I never ate an animal again.

When developers bought the huge complex they didn't locate the remains. The horse is now probably under one of the many buildings that have gone up since.

we learn to respect each other, I doubt very seriously we will learn to respect the horses. Or any animal smaller and weaker than we are, for that matter.

There is a belief amongst some Buddhists that there is a special "hell" where animal abusers go.
They get whipped by horse-headed demons until they understand the pain they themselves inflicted.
Once they repent of their ways, they do have the chance to rejoin reincarnation in a new life.

There is no "permanent" hell in Buddhism, unless the person chooses to stay...
