http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/318-66/30559-black-man-found-dead-in-jail-restraining-chair-ruled-homicideA 22-year-old college student found dead in restraints at a Georgia county jail died from several blunt-force injuries to his head and upper body, the coroner who ruled the death a homicide said Thursday.
Investigators for months have refused to say how Matthew Ajibade died, citing an open criminal inquiry. His body was found on New Years Day strapped in a restraining chair inside an isolation cell at the Chatham County jail.
Chatham County Sheriff Al St Lawrence last month fired nine deputies in connection with the death, and District Attorney Meg Heap has said she plans to seek an indictment from a grand jury.
Attorneys for Ajibades parents in Hyattsville, Maryland, said they learned Thursday that his death had been ruled a homicide caused by blunt-force trauma from information on the death certificate. The attorneys shared a copy with The Associated Press.
Dr Bill Wessinger, the Chatham County coroner, confirmed the findings in a phone interview.

(24,576 posts)is through charges and convictions. That will get the message delivered loud and clear. I don't think we have a prayer of any department cleaning up its own mess, and I can't see at this point that DOJ is doing much to stem the tide.

(29,322 posts)What a terrible way to go, I can only imagine the last moments in life where a WTF and anger over the unjust of it all. Awful, I hope the people found responsible and while I can't in good conscience support the kind of danger it is to be a cop in prison -- the horror of the last moments, just no one should be put through that.
(On edit -- What I'm referring to is the time a security guard had his forearm to my neck with staff standing around seemingly supporting him with their hands on my arms but it was torture since I wasn't resisting and no way I could possibly resist but he kept going. I keep it to myself to protect my feelings because people doubt this or that but they don't understand the muscle bound asshole the guy was who was jerk to me as soon as I showed up. I wish it wasn't true because the memory haunted me for several months and I managed to somehow completely block it out but something simple like a security guard in Better Call Saul triggers the memory of this with the worst part no one objecting to it. Anyway, felt it was necessary to explain the title but I'm outraged very much at this.
