The, er, persuasion from the President, members of the administration and Pelosi, are paying off. Pelosi has, according to the WH, been very helpful in rounding up dems who are less vulnerable, thus shielding more vulnerable ones. Three more dems have come out in support: Hines of CT, Beyer of VA and Kilmer of WA. When the President's new best buddy, schedules the vote, you'll know that they have the votes to pass it- and the TPP.
The TPP will be wrapped up swiftly and it will be followed in short order by the TTIP and TISA. My bet is all 3 will pass by this time next year.
You can call it pessimism or cynicism, but I call it knowing how the system works, and the lessons of history.

(14,255 posts)anyone who votes yes. Or helped write it. Or shilled for it. Kind of simplifies things for me, really.
I knew it was coming when Obama started giving rides in Air Force One.

(4,458 posts)of those following this issue expect nothing less...especially from the "weak-kneed, milque toast, spineless and greedy" Democrats that have made it routine to cave to give the GOP what they themselves and their lobbyists wanted all along ....then blame the GOP and then the GOP blames the Dems....and then the grand façade continues via distraction.
They do however, put on great Oscar winning performances for the masses and allow enough time for our anger and memories to fade right before they ask us for those $5. campaign donations and our votes-tho.
How many times are "we" gonna wear the same costume to the same party before we see "this ain't going nowhere for anybody But them fast"?

(36,392 posts)president, but the long term outlook for the party and the country is very bleak, especially since Clinton is at least as corporate as Obama.

Once passed there will be no going back. Just look at NAFTA.
The seeds for the end of the democracy will be planted and will grow large.

(6,994 posts)That ran as a Democrat and he was able to fool me twice. A good example as to why we can't have Hillary (Republican Lite) as our nominee.I am all in for Bernie Sanders.
This could actually cost Hillary votes because voters look at her as Obama II

(17,379 posts)Even as someone that supports these sorts of agreements in principle, I see a much rougher road to final passage, there are no guarantees, it will depend on the final deal.

(14,255 posts)running again, which Dems can be hurt the least by voting yes and providing cover for those who vote no.
I wonder if rides on AF1 come with souvenir t-shirts, or maybe the lucky Dems are shown how easy it would be to just open that door.....or maybe it is set up like the old First Class cabins, with Jamie Dimon tending bar and handing out envelopes stuffed with cash and promises.

(20,709 posts)measurable impact, but people will insist on blaming all that is wrong with the world on it.

(114,904 posts)see a plethora of negative effects. Of course you corporate dems will refuse to acknowledge them and will run around blaming other factors.
