Google to release monthly data on self-driving car accidents

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/06/05/google-autos-safety-report-idUSL3N0YR4X920150605

Google Inc said it would give monthly updates of accidents involving its driverless cars as public interest groups ask for more data on the safety of the project.

The report for May showed Google cars had been involved in 12 accidents since it first began testing its self-driving cars in 2009, mostly involving rear-ending. (bit.ly/1eTPndY)

Google said one of its vehicles was rear-ended at a stoplight in California on Thursday, bringing the total count to 13 accidents.

"That could mean that the vehicles tend to stop more quickly than human drivers expect," public interest group Consumer Watchdog said.

Diplomatic. "Our cars stop faster than people expect" rather than the more honest statement, "All of the accidents were people's fault, because people are in fact really shitty drivers and the sooner we get people out of the driving equation, the safer we will all be."

Apple is working on autos, Uber is working on it, Google is working on it. It's happening, folks. 5+ million people, out of a fucking job.

Basic income is necessary. In 10 years. Bookmark this. If DU is still around (it's lasted over a decade and a half almost), it'll be proven true.
