I just saw the video of the cops breaking up the pool party in Texas. What a fascinating video.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6795793

It encapsulates nearly everything that's wrong with the the criminal justice system in America. Blacks are at a disadvantage from the get-go...presumed guilty and treated like shit right off the bat.

The two most fascinating aspects of the video are the out of control cops and the privilege enjoyed by the white bystanders.

The cop was clearly trying to go after every single black kid he could. He even used excessive force to subdue a teenage girl. It's not like she was armed, she was wearing a bikini for crying out loud. She clearly had no weapon on her, but that didn't stop the cop from physically assaulting her.

Even more fascinating is how the white people there are standing around with no fear of the police at all. One white guy (not a cop) even tries to physically restrain one of the black teenage girls with no consequence at all. Clearly the white people in the video are enjoying privilege and have no fear of the cops while the black kids seem terrified as the cop pulls out his gun and starts chasing them around.

Is it any wonder why black people distrust the police? Blacks are exposed to this shit from a very early age.

A protest against police brutality is planned for Monday evening in McKinney. Many people, both in the community and around the country, said it appeared in the video that police were targeting the black teens.

The teen who filmed the video, who is white, agreed. He can be seen in the video walking around and talking to the black teens, who are being forced to sit on the ground, without the Casebolt saying anything to him.

Brooks told Buzzfeed, “Everyone who was getting put on the ground was black, Mexican, Arabic. The cop didn’t even look at me. It was kind of like I was invisible.”

In fact, there was a brief moment when it looked to me like one of them was trying to restrain the corporal. But in the end, they all piled in, especially after the corporal drew his pistol. So that demonstrates to me the reality that, regardless of whether all the police are "bad apples" or not, they'll fall into line when pushed to it.

Since one officer had escalated the situation (by drawing a gun) all other officers HAD to change their attitude. It's part of police training to adept to changing circumstances.

The corporal willfully forced the hands of his partners by drawing that gun. Vile human being.

Which, in my opinion, fueled the rage. He was clearly out of control from when he fell through the entire incident. Only an idiot would try to roll like that with a radio, flashlight, gun, extra mags, ASP or baton, cuffs. phone...... More likely, when he fell/rolled, he banged himself up and that just pissed him off bringing him into the rage that he was in. You must stay in control to maintain control.

by the badge(s). No other badge said anythng to deescalate the situation and yeah the white bystanders either. What is it with this virulent amerikkkan hate of POC? Is it because a POC is in charge in D.C. and some whites in authority want to make sure POC understand that they are still in charge. It's got to be some psychotic racist thought behind this return to 'the good old days' of racial hate, harassment, abuse and murder of unarmed children and adults who are born with non-caucasian skin coloring...

tried to destroy her face and teeth by slamming her head into a concrete sidewalk, face first. The officer left his first target to pursue the male, who had given the girl a chance to move back over to the grass. The officer pulls his gun to go after the back of a running black male teenager. With other officers in pursuit of two males, the officer returns to the ground to wrestle the girl who has not left the spot where she was sitting trying to recover from the first attack when she is attacked again. Other officers do nothing.

This is the best example of white privilege ever. Two racist white women start shit with a group of brown teenagers (most of whom live in the association), start using racist language, physically assault a teenage girl, then call the cops so that the cops can help them win the fight. All with exactly ZERO CONSEQUENCES for their racist and violent actions.

All I can say about anybody who denies white privilege exists after this most blatant example is, they are part of the problem with racism in America.

Viscerally shocking, but the lack of self-awareness is the icing -- Casebolt thinks he's in a Steven Segal movie, a very bad one. He poses on the girl as if he had just shot a deer. And for those who aren't aware, in Texas, white socks with uniform pants means Old-Timey Violent Racist. Especially on a cop.

Casebolt is the last man who should be allowed near a badge. The very last. Fire the man who hired this man, and then seize the pension of the man who hired the man who hired him.

I was born there, and Houston and Austin always seemed relatively fine. Corpus is a generally liberal place, I'm told. San Antonio, Dallas, the Panhandle -- %#$%#$. I know it's probably changed a great deal, but for me it's too late.

My uncle was promoted to plainclothes early in his career -- his responsibilities included dressing as a gay man and frequenting bars trying to pick up strangers, then driving them outside the city where they would be met by a team of fellow officers. Once the pickup was beaten bloody for awhile, they would threaten to kill him if he returned, even if only to pick up his clothes or belongings. So the 'offender' would start the long lonely walk down the road, barely conscious, face rearranged, off to a glorious new future. This was departmental policy.

Truthfully, I think my uncle was bullshitting me. I think they were probably just killed and buried outside of town. Now, my uncle was a nice guy to me, always a good uncle. He did throw his daughter out of the house for suspicion of potsmoking at sixteen, and she was murdered a few months later by her 'handler', but who's judging? He was friendly, helpful, good-hearted, and moral. He always wore white socks with his uniform.

I got my fill of pleasant, smiling racists. They're everywhere, of course, even here in California; and I do look just like one of them, so they seem to be eager to share their lovely beliefs with me until they find out who I really am -- but my experiences in Texas scarred me enough to feel fear every time I enter the state.

I'm sure it's nothing compared to Alabama or Mississippi. And I do feel strange repeating these opinions on this forum. But that video has so enraged me that I'm afraid I'm boiling over a bit. I would like to beat Officer Casebolt to a pulp, and instruct him not to go home. He needs to walk a lonely road along with the man who hired him, and the man who hired the man who hired him.

For all I know my uncle was telling tales. But as soon as I saw the white socks -- none of the others appear to be wearing them -- I flashed back to my good old uncle and all his funny stories.

A lot of human pain and misery buried in the ground all over this country, I guess. I'm just really angry about it, and Texas had a lot to do with that anger.

And the friendly, smiling, pleasant, helpful, racist monsters that I came from.

On edit: '88' on the back bumper stands for 'HH' -- 'Heil Hitler'. They have soooo many little codes so they can recognize each other, because the damned liberals are making it so hard to say it out loud in public....

If this had been about crowd control the cops would have had everyone either leave or sit down until it was all sorted out.
They targeted people of color from the start.

The fact that several adult white people were able to wander about 'helping' the cops underscores the view that the authorities have about black youth: that they are dangerous and have to be subjugated.
