Once a constitutional convention is convened, my impression is everything is fair game.

My problem with a 6-year term is that it means 1 class of Senators always stands during a Presidential election and the other two never do, so 2/3rds of Senate seats will always have an advantage to Republicans.

There are links going back at least to 2010.

Most of them are from very right wing sites so I won't link.

They have been saying nonsense like this for years. Its not going ot happen. Nowhere near the 34 state threshold, and almost a nonexistent chance for 38 states ratify any of their right wing amendments.

Our Constitution isn't perfect but it's the best that we have. If we open it to change you know who's going to get control of it? Not us. It will be frothing at the mouth fundamentalists and uber rich corporations who will destroy our freedoms. This is something that I would go to fucking war to prevent from happening.

Not only would a GOP president have two more years before a reckoning, but the ratio of presidential election years (heavy Dem turn-out) and midterms (generally more favorable to the GOP) would go from 1:1 to 1:2, thereby ensuring with near-certainty a permanent Republican majority in the senate (and maybe the house too).

Furthermore, since the senators all have six year terms too, ever the same senators could lift on the presidential candidates' coattails, the other 66 or 67 would never have to reckon with third party shenanigans (Perot), Obama-mania, being ready for Hillary or feeling the Bern.

Devious.

and EVIL.

Fringe righties (and those that use or bilk them) have been "buzzing" on that subject for decades.
