on the death of Dusty Rhodes (yes this is about politics too)

For those who do not care about Pro wrestling, let me offer some background. Last night, one of the great wrestlers, Dusty "the American dream" Rhodes died at 69. 69 is young for a man to die at, but not that old for a wrestler. He entertained millions, and two of his sons, Cody and Dusty (aka Stardust and Goldust) are in the buisness, working the same show.

Now, Vince Macmahon, the owner, is a noted republican. His wife Linda tried to become a Senator from Connecticut. It's also no surprise that the WWE offers a LOT of material where the Rich, Powerful people eventually destroy the working class rebels, one of their wrestlers , John Bradshaw Layfield, did such a good job of acting like a Fox news commentator he actually got hired as one, where his rhetoric actually became MORE vicious than when he was supposedly playing a character. Why am I saying this, it is because frankly, just like Vince brought the American Dream to an early grave, the people Vince wants to be like are doing the same to us, knowing that while the working class stiffs will gain a few victories, the script will be for his son-in-law, aka Hunter Hearst Helmsley, will get the belt. HHH (realname Paul Levesque) is worth noting because he started out being sold as a parody of the upper crust, but he took and angle where he slept with the bosses daughter to actually sleeping with the bosses daughter. Of course, he is the one who will get the company, but that does not stop him from writing angles where working class heroes get crushed, and, in addition, using real life backstage policies to ensure they are also crushed in real life.

You see, a performer knows there is the role, and the actor, and never the two meet. Vince, HHH, his daughter Stephanie, they, like the Koch Brothers, really actually believe they can blur the lines, writing a script in which they are the righteous, because they have the power. They know the working class heroes, the Dusty Rhodes, the CM Punks, the Daniel Bryans, are just disposable pawns to keep the "marks" filling seats. They have to give the marks just enough victories before having HHH ruin them. Indeed, Vince and HHH have a sense of pride in knowing that even though the fans cheer the working class heroes, they get to decide who has a long career in the business. HHH got to where he got to by befriending the right people, yet he blasts off saying how he is "that damned good." If you have not guessed, this is where the politics come in.

There are people who think they understand the show of politics, but they are marks. DU, especially in an election cycle, is a showcase of marks, on all sides. There are people fighting and demonizing each other, allowing cheap shots and low blows. Keep in mind, whether you are the working class hero who runs into the ring to beat up Hunter Hearst Helmsley, or the person in the front row yelling, remember, this is all about putting rears in seats, and all about the person who gets the money.

Dusty used to say the winner "was going to the pay window." here is hoping whoever writes his check pays better than Vince, and for his sons, and us, let's not beat ourselves to an early grave thinking that we will someday go to a pay window, because truth be told, the Hunter Hearst Helmsleys of the world have already written the angle where you lose, no matter how many marks came to see you.

Except wrestling fans realize it is made up.

Dusty made his career in the NWA by and large. NWA was killed by Vince, but Shane Douglas actually pulled the trigger.

Then *you* are the mark.

As submariners like to say, there are two classes of vessels, submarines and targets. If you aren't a submarine then you are a target.

Only to have Skinner come out and announce that due to Bernie not being a Democrat he was stripping him of the title and awarding it to Hillary Clinton.
