BERNIE SANDERS: "Today, The Good Side Won."

https://twitter.com/BernieSanders/status/609524829344165888

Vermont Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, the longest-serving independent in congress, drew a crowd of nearly 800 tonight in Des Moines as he laid out his vision for the country.

“We have a moral responsibility to stand up now and say, ‘Enough is enough. We are going to transform our energy system and the planet we leave will be habitable,'” Sanders said.

The crowd also responded loudly as Sanders railed against the North American Trade Agreement and celebrated the defeat of trade legislation.

“The House of Representatives this morning put a real kibosh on the Trans Pacific Partnership,” Sanders said, to cheers. “…Today, the good side won.”

UNLESS AND UNTIL

we make structural changes in our government to make such a concentration of wealth and power and privilege IMPOSSIBLE, here at home.

Then we have to show other nations how to do it. The kind of thing the USA USED to do, before the delusions of Empire took over the American Mind, with liberty and justice for all, and democracy, and public education and public health (remember all that stuff?)...

Sanders invited three students to speak briefly about their college debt and many in the crowd gasped as an Iowa State University student explained how high her debt would be and how much interest she was being charged on the loans.

This will resonate with the going to college, in college, debt up to their eyebrows been-to-college crowd. It is time that an open discussion on crushing college debt as the norm is addressed. I went to public higher ed in the days when it didn't cost an arm and a leg. What the youth of today are experiencing is nothing short of corporate greed; which will bleed them most of their adult lives.

Kick and rec!

but upon closer inspection they have been given pretty much everything and taken the rest that they can while denying the very same to others.

F@ck em all, all the blue dogs, the third way, triangulation and any Dem that sucks the corporate teet.

They can keep bringing the TAA up for vote after vote.

Those who are opposed must win every vote.

Those who support need only win one vote.

They hate the spotlight. Where are they now? Why aren't they out there, in great numbers, railing against this defeat? Where are the group photos of proud TPP supporters?
This deal was designed from the get-go to fly under the radar. The Republicans keep riding it, they'll ride it down into the flames. They will not speak up for this deal during their primaries, imo. They have until then. After that, they'll disown it, and portray it's failure as somehow all the President's fault.

I wasn't surprised to see mentioned how there's pushback from some Republicans about the administration cutting deals with foreign governments. Calling them suspicious by nature is an understatement.

Its worth celebrating today,
but I've been disappointed so many times by stuff like this that I have earned a deep cynicism when it comes to our politicians. Lets see what happens next.

There is probably a Weasel Hole or Trap Door that these guys will slip through,
but this is a good news dump for the weekend.

I shouldn't be this excited. Optimistic. I can't explain it. I just can't shake the feeling something is coming.

I am sure I'll be brought back to earth soon enough but right now with Senator Sanders out kicking ass and Pope Francis getting ready to rally the Catholics behind saving Eden from certain destruction..

This haggard and ragged environmentalist is stoking a small fire in his belly and it ain't my acid reflux.
