Lt. Gov. Mike Foley sent a request to the president on Friday seeking a major disaster declaration in the state of Nebraska.

The request follows major storm damage caused by flooding, high winds and tornadoes in 12 counties.

The counties affected by the May storms are: Cass, Dundy, Gage, Jefferson, Lincoln, Lancaster, Morrill, Nuckolls, Otoe, Saline, Saunders and Thayer.

If the request is granted, more counties could be added to the list, said Bryan Tuma, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency assistant director.

These things always remind me in a bad way of how Bush denied WI disaster designation after 27 tornados struck WI in Aug 2005...the worst tornado outbreak in WI history.

And the main reason seemed to be that WI had a Dem Governor.
