PSA: you can do the Heimlich maneuver on your dog.

For the second time in my life I Heimliched my dog (aussiepoo rescue). Had aspirated some chunky dog food. Did this for our elkhound about 20 years ago.

This doggie should be named Rasputin. Shot (bbs) set afire, broke leg jumping off the second floorb (2500. surgery, recovering now), choked...I expect him to attempt drowning in the water bowl next...

he doesn't try any more tricks!

About 30 years ago our poodle Snuffy was choking on a rawhide strip. I grabbed him up, sat down and put him between my knees, facing out. I popped him on the back quite hard a few times and was able to then reach into his mouth and pinch the end of the strip with my fingernails and pull it out of his throat. Then he bit me.

(He bit me because I wouldn't let him have the rawhide strip again. He didn't actually sink his teeth in, though.)

It was pure instinct on my part that I grabbed kitty and did a maneuver that made her cough up something she had eaten from the garden.

You seem to have one of those pets like my present cat that I call my million dollar baby because of the vet bills I've had to pay repairing him from one disastrous encounter after the other. Just last week, I had to have his eye treated were a Jay pecked him from coming to close to their nest.
