Oldie but goodie From DKos: Someone finally polled the 1% (on various issues) and it's not pretty

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/05/29/1302820/-Someone-finally-polled-the-1-And-it-s-not-pretty

On May 22, The Campaign for America's Future gave a conference on The New Populist Majority. The keynote speaker was Elizabeth Warren. The conference confronted the meme that the US is a "center-right" country.

Most interesting to me was the fact that they obtained poll results from "the 1%." Typically, "upper income" in polling is considered "over $250K/yr" or even "over $150K/yr." Such people are rich compared to most, but they do not have enough money to buy elections with their spare change.

The poll results for this comparison came from the Russell Sage Foundation. "Elites" are defined as at or near "the 1%" in wealth with an average income of $1M/yr or more. The perspectives of this group are compared to responses from other polls such as Pew and Gallup.

Some people I know very well are in that range, and you should hear them talk about politics and the poor in particular. They're also good Christians, of course. I have to steer the conversation away from politics when I'm around them, or I'll get very angry.

And somehow Bernie, whose positions are obviously popular with the 99% as shown in this very poll, is some kind of "radical."

EXACTLY. Anyone who doesn't understand why politicians say one thing and do another should read this list very carefully. And then read it again. Read the last three and you get TPP. READ IT!!!!!

the 1%, so that's not surprising really.

Sad but not surprising.

But it is amazing how GOP policies track so exactly with the wishes of the majority of the 1%.

9. Well, to be fair, the majority of the 1% have their hearts in the wrong place but not all

By any stretch of the imagination. In most cases large minorities are for doing the right thing. I don't think we should forget that and that is why I think occupy's position was exactly right when they said "We are not against the 1%, we are against policies that benefit the 1% at the expense of the 99%.

On the other hand, eating the rich is much more easily justifiable as self defense.

What gets me is how few understand who we are talking about year after year and worse, they believe it to be them. No, Mr. millionaire not you. Not you either 6 digits, put the cork back in the bottle.

Not even close. We are disposable unless we are great assets, then we might make it to the 7 figure club. Meanwhile the top sharks are ever munching away on that big 99% cake.

The Owners are way up the food chain, not even close to the new rich. Wealthy on a different scale.
