ON INTERNET TAX BILLS, WYDEN WARNS AGAINST 'LEGISLATIVE MALPRACTICE'

ON INTERNET TAX BILLS, WYDEN WARNS AGAINST 'LEGISLATIVE MALPRACTICE':
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said it is "past time for the Senate to follow the House's lead" and pass a bill that would make permanent a law that bars state and local taxes on Internet access. But Wyden warned it would be "legislative malpractice" to tie the non-controversial extension to another proposal -- like the one recently introduced by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah -- that would give states greater authority to collect sales tax from online sellers.
