Jeb Bush calls out Pope Francis on climate change

And Jeb Bush expects no one to challenge his proclamations. After all, he says those who think climate change is occurring are just really, really arrogant. So that's that, according to you, Jeb?
.

DERRY, N.H. – During his first campaign stop Tuesday as an official presidential candidate, Jeb Bush took issue with a leaked document authored by Pope Francis in which the Catholic leader calls for a global effort to combat climate change.

“First of all, Pope Francis is the most extraordinary leader. He speaks with such clarity, speaks so differently. He’s drawing people back in the faith, which as a converted Catholic now of 25 years, I think is really cool,” Bush said.

But Bush disagreed with the sentiment Pope Francis expressed in the document. “Numerous scientific studies indicate that the greater part of the global warming in recent decades is due to the great concentration of greenhouse gases … given off above all because of human activity,” Pope Francis wrote in the encyclical, a papal letter to bishops.

“I hope I’m not going to get castigated for saying this by my priest back home, but I don’t get economic policy from my bishops or my cardinals or my pope,” Bush said. “And I’d like to see what he says as it relates to climate change and how that connects to these broader, deeper issue before I pass judgment. But I think religion ought to be about making us better as people and less about things that end up getting in the political realm.”

.....

Jeb! Bush. Circling the drain and has not a clue.

--- is he no longer listening to him and to the many others in his party who voiced serious concerns about Climate Change --- before Citizens United that is... Check out this video compilation out of most of the Republican leadership of the last 20 years speaking out on Climate Change. Includes GW Bush, Sarah Palin, John McCain, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, John Boehner...

Poor Jeb. He's just not a scientist. But, he won't listen to one who is. Like the Pope.

I didn't realize that so many Republicans have come out publicly agreeing that climate change is real, happening now, and is caused, at least to some extent, by human activity. Once more many of them seem to agree that something must be done about it.

However, this is the point in the election cycle that Republican Presidential candidates concentrate on the lowest common denominator of their party and try to whoo their far right base. If you get the under educated rednecks worked up just tell them that fighting climate change (which they have been convinced is non existent) will increase their electric bills, the cost of their automobiles, etc. Here in Alabama the big coal company executives don't want their favorite Republicans candidates agree that global warming really exist either.

a conservator of all its wonders and riches in testiment to the religion the purport to worship? Most religions want people to grow and expand their views and look beyond their own lives to become more caring and respectful about everything in creation. Republicans have transformed science and knowledge, and now, even religion, into their political battlegrounds just to serve the profit demands of their wealthy donors.

Some of us were curious to see what the conservatives would say about the Pope's words on climate change. I can't wait to see more. This is satisfying.

complain about religion overstepping their proper role. His brother actively promoted dispensationism to justifiy Iraq and brainwash troops into fighting it. He also used rapture to deny concerns about climate change. They have been using relgious brainwashing for 30 years to destroy our educational system and our economy.

Jeb! is nothing but a blind political ideologue. If it doesn't agree with his personal beliefs, he abruptly discards it.

He also blew off going to see Al Gore's prescient film on climate change, 'An Inconvenient Truth', back in the day. Jeb! the ostrich.

And another thing--- staying out of Terri Schiavo's personal family end of life issues also didn't fit in with his beliefs. So, he imperiously meddled with the lives of this family. This is yet another example of how "small government" Jeb! Bush operates.

It will ALWAYS be 'his way or the highway'.

I hope like hell that this country figures out who this guy is in time to throw him out on his (!) ..... This is not a drill.

It's been a decades-long, dark and draining battle for Floridians, but maybe the sky is dawning.
