Georgia (the country) floods: Escaped tiger 'kills man'


(BBC) A tiger that killed a man and wounded another after escaping from a flooded zoo in Georgia has been captured and killed, according to media reports.

The animal was one of several to break free from its enclosure at Tbilisi Zoo last weekend, following severe flooding.

Earlier reports suggested the men may have been attacked by a lion.

Police were deployed to find the animal, which had been sheltering in a warehouse, AFP news agency says.

A spokeswoman for the interior ministry said the killing happened in the city's central square. ...........(more)

but I have a real issue with killing a Tiger because it was doing only what it does naturally.

even while it's caged, it's still a wild animal. And a very rare one as well.

I guess they don't use tranquilizers anymore?

while in principal I hate them, but at the same time, they are the last places that are actually doing work to preserve the last vestiges of some species.
