Colbert Pitches a Brilliant 'Mad Men' Ending

Stephen Colbert Turned a Donald Trump Campaign Announcement Spoof Around at Lightning Speed
There's no rest for the future Late Show host.

We have three months to go until Stephen Colbert debuts his version of the Late Show. Most hosts would take the lead time to hone their format and curate original sketch ideas. And maybe Colbert's toiling away at that behind the scenes… but not in radio silence. The comedian already debuted his first bit earlier this month, and now he's back, turning around a sketch that skewers Donald Trump's Presidential election pomp. What can't this man do?

Colbert Pitches a Brilliant 'Mad Men' Ending

"Donald Trump has announced that he is running for President of the United States," Colbert declares to his devoted YouTubers in the official "announcement of the announcement." "It will be the finest, most luxurious, gold-plated, diamond-encrusted campaign that will give hope to a weary nation until, together, we reach that fine Fall day when the new season of Celebrity Apprentice premieres."

It's unclear whether Colbert prepped the video or wrote it on the fly, but egad, it's full of gems. Adoring, convoluted, backhanded gems.

"I love Donald! He looked great on television. He looks like he fell into a river and he raked his body out of the surf down in Cape May three weeks from now, but the important thing is that the crabs have gotten to his eyes. That sends a message to voters," Colbert says

And a hilarious one at that.

Loved it when he launched into the end of Finnegan's Wake.
