Clinton says crafting plan to help U.S. graduates refinance student loans

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday that she would soon roll out a plan to make college more affordable and help graduates who already have student loans refinance their debt.

Clinton, speaking at a community college near Charleston, South Carolina, said she also supports President Barack Obama's proposal to let students attend two years of community college for free.

We shall see...

I also find it interesting that "graduates" is used...if someone who didn't graduate gets screwed will they be exempt from help?

Boil the frogs a little more slowly, but boil them nonetheless.

Many who are struggling to pay these debts don't have good paying jobs to get the loans refinanced.

Unless the government does something like they did with HARP and offer incentives to banks that help. But again, you are giving welfare to the rich bankers who don't need it. It's sort of like holding the poor hostage.

Meanwhile the price of tuition at these colleges are still soaring. So like ACA, it doesn't solve the underlying problem....cost.

an issue.

I'm not sure how refinancing debt is going to stack up, but at least it is now being talked about.

Let's quit putting our young people in debtor's prison to finance an education. That is no way to run a country. It did not used to be that way. State schools should be affordable and any kid willing to work all summer should be able to finance their education in the fall. The for-profit university system needs to end.
