(34,648 posts)as such. I have time.
I bet you won't find one dark skinned black person that white people and society accept as fully white and they get treated as such. Because it's a bullshit white privilege fabrication that only wirks from white to black.
For a black person to be called white, we have to be mostly WHITE, like so white that we look WHITE. But for some reason, you seem to think that we should accept white to black racial transitioning even though there will never ever be a black to white transition that will ever be accepted.
Just take take take from black folks, take everyting, even their very race and history. It's fine. Black people shoukdn't get to have blackness for themselves. Take the last things we have that haven't been stolen from us already by white people at some point and give it to this white lady. Kinda racist but it figures. Black people don't own blackness, white ladies that went to Howard deserve to have ut if they feel like they want it.

(765 posts)didn't set out to maliciously steal history in my view. She's just mentally unstable with a shifting sense of identity. It no doubt comes from her abusive childhood, and in my opinion, is not indicative of her being a racist or of her trying to harm anyone else. I don't believe it comes from any sense of entitlement from being a white woman either. I have never met a white woman who thinks she's entitled to be black. I don't think that's a common theme among white ladies.

(34,648 posts)People can be disturbed individuals in need of treatment while at the same time being super selfish and terribly self centered.
My problem is with folks saying that if she 'feel' black we should accept her as such. This is my response to that. Just because a white lady feels black, does not make her such. And it's irritating to me to see white folks actually trying to convince us to go along with her bullshit because of her 'feelings'.
I suffered abuse too, and ain't nan one of them gonna let me be white just to save me from my feelings about racism and shit. No. I'm not having this shit. She is not a black woman, period, final answer.

(2,065 posts)but that doesn't invalidate the right of transwomen or transmen to transition.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)Because I'm not. I'm only talking about this made up idea of white women/men transitioning into black women/men.
prayin4rain
(2,065 posts)concept that a white person can't transition to be black because if a black person transitioned, they would still be discriminated against. Which draws a parallel in that one respect.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)That white lady cannot transition to black, that's racist. I cannot transition to white and I'm far whiter than she is black. So no. It's racist to say it's okay for a white lady to be black just cause sye says so, but a black lady cannot do the same thing. We do not accept her as black and we will not unyil white folks start accepting anyone with any bit of white in them as white. It's racist white privilege bullshit otherwise.
prayin4rain
(2,065 posts)white people wouldn't accept you. If a black lady told me she was white, I would certainly accept that. I'd love to have ya!
Do you mean it wouldn't stop people like racist police officers from discriminating against you on sight?

(34,648 posts)I'd just be saying some shit that people would give me the side eye for. Would not stop me from getting pulled over, followed in the store, talked to like I'm stupid, harassed by racists, put into catagories. It would not work.
I am what I am. I always will be and so will she.

(2,065 posts)in a certain sense we're continuing to let racists rule the day when we continue to cling to the labels that were invented by those exact racists.
Somebody made a post that said that races were invented for the purpose of stealing and subjugating certain people. If that's true, we should abandon the concept altogether. We should petition government to stop with the little check boxes and stop divving our selves up to that detail.
It would take time, but I think eventually the concept of race could fade back into obscurity. Other than how you and I are treated by some people in society, I don't think there's any meaningful difference between us. So, let's try to make them stop telling us that there are. I may be shorter, your skin may be darker, I may be more prone to depression, you may have a better sense of humor. But taxonomically, we should be considered the same.

(34,648 posts)Our history here in this nation is so steeped in racism that we would have to form an entirely new government to get rid of the racism this nation was founded upon. And it would still probably not work.
prayin4rain
(2,065 posts)But, I think fighting racism by fighting the concept of race itself might work. We made it all up. The colonials who made it up are the liars. I think we should do our best to stop participating in this mass centuries long delusion of race. Melanin does not make a subsect of human beings. I wish we could start over and never introduce the BS idea. Maybe it's too late, but maybe not.

(22,336 posts)is to stop discrimination. You can't just ignore a label that has so much power. People are killed over this. People are unable to get jobs over this. It's a serious thing.

(2,065 posts)And it's hard to monitor the murderers and the discriminators without a system to track them and their misdeeds.
I do realize that it's a little simplistic to say ...hey, if the concept of race is the problem, poof, let's not have that concept anymore.
But starting a serious, far-reaching conversation pointing out that it was made up, could start the ball rolling.
