Donald Trump's big presidential announcement Tuesday was made a little bigger with help from paid actors at $50 a pop.
New York-based Extra Mile Casting sent an email last Friday to its client list of background actors, seeking extras to beef up attendance at Trump's event.
"We are looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement," reads the June 12 email, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. "We understand this is not a traditional 'background job,' but we believe acting comes in all forms and this is inclusive of that school of thought." (Read the full email at the bottom of the post.)

Which begs the question, "Would you have taken Trump's 50 bucks for 3 hours worth of work?"

(53,339 posts)The deal was that the actors didn't get paid until the event was over, and you know any subversive acts would void the agreement.

(6,409 posts)It might be fun, and Trump stands no chance of getting anywhere, no matter how many people cheer for him at a rally. When I was in college, I used to go to all the campaign victory parties, eat free food, talk with the crazies, etc. In 1980, we started out at Jimmy Carter's victory party, but that became quite a downer when the networks came on with news of his defeat even before the polls closed in the west. We moved on to the Republican victory party and that was great, because they ignored the food table and just drank, so we helped ourselves. We had to leave when they sang "Happy Days Are Here Again" for about the 12th time. Then we went to the Libertarian victory party, where we found an interesting mixture of business types, prostitutes, and drug dealers. They had a great cheese tray, but they seemed baffled by the whole election process, not sure whether they should be happy or sad about the results. I don't know if they still have open victory parties these days, but maybe I'll check it out, for old times sake.

There's no chance he'd pay anybody in advance so heckling possibilities weren't there for anyone who needed the money.
