Dylann Roof and Charles Manson

Before I write anything else, I want to be clear, am NOT implying that Roof is insane. I think he is perfectly sane. Not even a sociopath.

The moment I heard that Roof had stated, to at least one friend, he wanted to start "a race war," I immediately thought about Charles Manson. The most manipulative criminal I can think of. The man that instructed his followers to brutality murder 7 innocent people. He was convicted in the Tate/Labianca murders because of the work of Vincent Bugliosi and some others.

What astounded me yesterday and today is how many people are out there, to this day, defending Manson. They defend him. They defend his rantings. They defend the "race war" mentality.

I won't link to any of it. It's too vile. It's too unbelievable. It reeks of the seeds of the Holocaust.

I have to wonder how many Dylann Roofs are out there and how much of his "philosophy" came from the insane rantings of Charles Manson and his current supporters.

of this issue. Gun sales through the roof - Black churches and white police officers targeted - all to trigger the 'race wars' they've wanted for many years. Obama in the WH gave them the scary black power figure they needed.

Ok. I hate giving them any publicity. I have to think about that

I understand where you are coming from. I just absolutely am so disgusted. I can't even put it in words.

I will think about it

Far TOO REaL and and while we're behind our keyboards (me included) they are stocking up on ammo and recruiting more and more young minds to HAVE the race war they want. They are like ISIS. The world is full of this mindset and the rest of us will suffer the results.

If you look at the original thread from March, some of the replies treated me like I was delusional to even consider the possibility that the motivation could be white supremacy race war.

But I was the 4th rec on your linked post.

I will think about it. I don't disagree with you. I just don't want to give them a voice. But I am weighing it.

I've been here so long that I had enough of media coddling RW and those DUers who claim you must be delusional to give it any thought. These RW nuts are for real, and GOP has successfully put off widespread coverage of their intention to incite the race wars they mean to win.

I can't even imagine what the motivation is to deny the obvious. To actually deny what is seen day in and day out.

I question the motivation. Denial us not acceptable.

I just looked to see what I replied. "Though I doubt it, I wouldn't put anything past them."

My doubt was about that particular person. But I take it back. I agree

3. A fairer comparison for Roof would be to Manson's followers.

Manson didn't do the deed. He influenced others to do so.

Just like Limpbaugh, O'Really, Hannity, Savage, the GOP, et al, don't do the dirty deed. Their followers do.

That's a more fair comparison, imo.

I thought about Manson and his words. He still has followers that support him. I tend to think that Roof is one of them. Maybe not directly but I bet somewhere in his hate filled learnings, it's there

BTW, if Manson is in jail for influencing murders, why aren't they?

This same thing happened in my town - Knoxville, TN - a few years back. The authorities found all sorts of right-wing propaganda in the shooter's home.
