Feel the Bern -- Las Vegas edition

I attended Bernie's Town Hall this morning in Las Vegas at the Treasure Island. The crowd was very enthusiastic and the space was nearly filled to capacity. Mostly white people, but a few blacks, Asians and Latinos. Ages all over the map. I sat next to two black women who didn't know much about him but said they were committed to evaluating all of the candidates.

After a brief introduction from NV State Senator Segerblom, Bernie appeared to uproarious applause and shouts of "Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!"

He started the meeting with a moment of silence for the terrible shooting in Charleston. Then he remarked that although we have made some real progress regarding race in this society, we still have a long ways to go.

He excited the crowd with his speech, covering everything from income inequality to education to our crumbling infrastructure to immigration to much, much more. There was lots of clapping a cheering at various points he made and even a few standing Os.

All in all, a great way to start the day! Here are some pics:

1 - One group of enthusiasts brought this very large "I Bernie" sign:

2 - A view of the crowd behind my 3rd row seat:

3 - Bernie smiling at the crowd:

4 - Bernie emphasizing a point:

Bernie does not disappoint. I told the women next to me to be prepared for a straight shooter, not a standard politician. They seemed to like what he had to say.

He kept the enthusiasm going through the whole speech because he doesn't come off like he's one of these rich people who recently discovered the peasants are unhappy unlike a LOT of the DC crowd. He knows what's happening and he has solutions.

BTW: We put our rally sign in the second floor window visible from the street and a bumper sticker on the car. I still have my Kucinich bumper sticker from 11 years ago.

Here's my view:
