Why was Reince Priebus standing behind Nikki Haley during her announcement today?

The only part of todays announcement that didn't make sense to me was Priebus was standing behind Haley. Why would he be in the conversation? Why would Haley entertain him? Why was he standing behind her? Does he agree that the flag should be removed?

It seemed unseemly to have him there, though having him anywhere is unseemly.

The SC voters will never allow that flag to be removed. She must be tired of being Governor. AlinPA Jun 2015 #12

Maybe they're ditching the tea baggers for once and for all and bringing republicans into the 20th century?

They are totally freaking out. It has nothing to do with national or Southern pride, they are upset because they perceive it as Progressives telling them what to do and the GOP leadership are taking those marching orders without a fight. The wingnuts simple don't care what the flag represents. They are concerned that the removal means they have lost another fight.

Nikki Haley is a Republican. She's getting all the glory for now wanting that flag taken down, and as for Priebus, he wants to make it look like it was his idea, and he told her to take it down. He is bathing in her shadow...to give the Republicans a less racist face..
